HELP, does it matter If one is sufficient and necessary or is it just about finding out what it means logically as a whole ?

Im confused, do we always have to do this every time this comes up to make sure we understand? Or could we not just know that "and" can mean "or" under certain conditions?

I wish they would highlight when it was needed to do this as well if thats true. PLEASE HELP I DONT GET IT
