@ Yeah flash cards are insanely useful. I carry mine with me everywhere haha. If I could bring them to work I totally would.

@ No kidding? I'll have to look into that! I've been using MindNode because it lets me use custom fonts and I'm a huge design nerd hahaha.

I've struggled with this. My initial plans were to take last September, then December, then February, then June, and now I'm planning on October. It's a bit of a hit on your confidence because you feel as though you should be farther along. You want to be done with it. I get that completely, sometimes I have the same thoughts.

That said, everyone above is right. Take it when YOU'RE ready. If you friends and family don't understand why it's taking so long, that's fine; not many people understand the LSAT, but guess what? You've got a whole community of supportive, caring individuals right in 7Sage. If you're feeling down on yourself, I'm totally willing to talk to you and I'm sure plenty of other 7Sagers are as well.

You don't want to put the time and money into taking a test as grueling as the LSAT when you have the notion that you'll be sitting in that same room a few months down the road. Spend those hours honing in on your skills, figuring out where you need to improve, and coming up with a strategy. If it takes a little longer, so what? Law school will be there for you when you're ready, and you'll be in a better situation. Spend the money you'd put towards taking the test you think you'll end up retaking, get a massage, go see a movie, do something for yourself. Then get back to studying with a clear and relaxed mind.

Remember, we're here to help.

Everyone who's asked so far should have received their maps! I'm working on the next few but I'm trying to figure out the software I'm using to do it. They'll look good though don't worry!

Slightly off-topic, but something that has kept me motivated is the movie Whiplash. If you have a chance, check it out. Aside from being an excellent film, there's a lot there to relate to as far as pushing yourself as far as you can go.

Everyone here has given solid advice thus far, and I think there's a lot to take away from all of that. I wanted to share a bit of my personal experience, though, which has a bit of a different approach.

So I struggled with not getting to where I wanted to be, and I'm still not anywhere near where I want to be (diagnostic in low 150s, sitting at low 160s right now), but there are two things that have been monumental to my improvements thus far: confidence, and finding what works for me. To do well on the LSAT, in my opinion, you have to understand as much about yourself as you do about the test and the way it's written. You have to allow yourself to fail a bit. That's okay, you're human! Just have the motivation and the dedication to keep pushing through and fine-tune your performance and your studies.

When I do BR, I usually ask myself two questions when evaluating each question: How did they structure this question? and How did my thought process get me to pick this answer choice? There are a lot of sub-questions that can come into play when evaluating each question, and I usually let myself fall down that rabbit hole. It may take a long time to come to a solid conclusion, but you'll start to see the nuances in the wording of the questions and see the forest through the trees. You'll also start to see where your own brain tricks you, and what tricks your brain falls for. I mention that second part because that gives you an invaluable amount of insight. Once you identify your weaknesses, you can prepare for them and find ways to prevent yourself for falling for those traps in the first place.

Finally, like I said, remember that you're human. You'll make mistakes, and that's okay, we all do it, even the people who score 180s. The LSAT is a very learnable test, just be willing to make that journey. We're all in this together. Don't be afraid to ask for help!

Edit: Forgot to add that typing up questions you got wrong is invaluable in giving you insight into the patterns of the test. It has helped me see more of what each question is really asking, so that might be a concrete piece of advice that could help you. I saw a fellow 7Sager recommend it a while back, and if I remembered the thread I'd give them credit.

I may be completely backwards in my thinking and if so I'm in trouble.

Anyways. I think it's tricky. The negation for "some" is "none," correct?

So if you had, for example:

LSATstudents some 7SageUsers

The contrapositive would be /7SageUsers none /LSATstudents or /7SageUsers some /LSATstudents, I'm not sure which given the interchangeable nature of "some."

So as @.hopkins the contrapositive of "some" gives you absolutely nothing at all unless you know it's 100 percent. At that point it would be "all," not "some," so we'd have more to work with.

What a wacky concept "some" turned out to be.

@ Yeah I'm always happy to have help! If you know of any mind maps you could make, or anything visual you can come up with, by all means share it here and we can make something digital to share! I'm more than happy to help out the community. :)

@ No problem! :)

The map has been sent to everyone who's asked! I'll be making more shortly, so as they get finished I'll fill everyone in and send them out! Let me know if you're still interested in getting the maps!

Hey Guys! I just wanted to update everyone on where I'm at with these. For my own personal use, I'm hand-drawing the maps but I know a scanned image might not be ideal for everyone, especially because I'm including imagery in my personal copy. What I'm going to do is use MindNode to make a .pdf version to share with y'all that's a bit more basic so you guys can add onto it in the way that best suits your learning necessities. Hope this works for everyone!

@ They're still hand-written so I'll be scanning them but I'm looking for a good mind-mapping program as well. If you're still interested let me know. :)

Mind Maps

Hey everyone!

I have pretty severe ADHD, which has led me to change my study habits for the LSAT quite a bit. @nicole.hopkins, @amanda_kw and I have been working pretty hard on really nailing the fundamentals of logic to improve our scores over the past several weeks, and it's been helping immensely. That said, there's still a lot to be done and as Jonathan said a few weeks ago, knowing logic like the back of your hand is crucial to scoring highly on the LSAT.

I've been studying up on mind-maps to help stimulate my creative side and find something that'll really make all of the logic lessons click for me. I'm finishing up the full logic map tonight, and will be doing two more over the course of the week: one for valid/invalid argument types, and one for LR question types.

I wanted to reach out and see if anyone would have an interest in me uploading these to share with anyone who might be more of a visual learner such as myself, or even if any of y'all have made mind maps that have worked for you!

Hi everyone! Apologies on the delay, life has been getting crazy. I've actually opted to take a different career path, so I won't be taking the LSAT. I DO still have my mind maps, and I'd love for the community to have them and be able to share them with current and future studiers! If you send me your emails I'll shoot them out to y'all, and then I hope y'all will continue to share them from there!
