I feel a little confused, not why C is right, but why D is not strongly supported. Answer C was also my gut instinct but since the question stem said "story telling appears to be a universal aspect of both past and present cultures," I thought that both ancient and modern cultures value it similarly comparatively.
I would love to understand where everyone's heads are at!
