Is there a difference between these two terms via status checker? Or do the mean the same thing at different schools? At some schools my application has gone under review just a few days after submitting. At other schools I have been on "complete" for weeks. And I'm wondering if they have even started reviewing my application.
Hey everyone, I have an admitted students day coming up. So how is the dress code for these events? I've seen forums where people say business causal and others say its just casual. So what is it? Also there is a reception afterwards at a restaurant. Do I have to pay for the food there? Any insight is welcomed, thanks!
Can anyone else weigh in on this topic. I've been having a lot of conversations about schools I ultimately want to end up at. If I get into a top school, my family still fears it may be too much for me. Any insight is appreciated.

I think it really varies by school. To put it bluntly, I think the higher up the rankings you go, the more time schools take. They have that luxury because they get lots of quality applicants and can be patient to "see how their class looks." I suspect we'll see some waves starting the second week in January. Admission offices will have recovered from the holidays by that point.
Good luck. May the admission decisions always be in your favor!
Thank you !
So at one school my application is under review. It went under review sometime last week, and then updated again this week, with the new date. Does that mean anything? Is this school actively reviewing my application? Should I hope for a decision soon. I only applied two weeks ago, and this is a top university.

I have no sight on whether or not you can raise you score in that short time period. But I know taking more practice tests is very important, so you have the right idea. But if you get your scores up, with your urm status and unique background you can definitely get into some decent schools with scholarships. I've seen minorities on LSN score in the mid 150's, ED and get into the T-14. Also if you're score doesn't reach your goal, you can always apply to some tier 2 schools and get some significant scholarships. Just focus on raising that score

@ohnoeshalpme804 I wouldn't say it's a "great choice" for big law. But big law is possible. In the 2017 ABA employment outcomes 95 students received jobs in firms with 500+ employees. And 34 got jobs at firms with 251-500 employees. That's a decent outcome and a lot better in comparison to other tier 2 schools. If my math is correct, that's about 36% of the graduating class finding jobs in large firms.
I have the same question. I'm hoping to get into Fordham, but it seems like they offer very little in scholarships. In 2017 no one received a full ride. I've been doing research on LSN and it seems like they give about 90,000 to many applicants. But that doesn't even cover two years of tuition, and then I'd have to factor in the cost of living in NY. Is the amount of loans worth it for a Fordham degree? I suggest looking at their employment outcomes. They place well in NY and many students go on to work in big law making large salaries. If big law is your goal, then it seems like Fordham is good for that
For the Northwestern application they have a section that asks, "What are your career interest(s) immediately after law school?" and "What are your long-term career goals?"
I have my interests, but I have no concrete ideas about what exactly I'll be doing after graduation. There is an option to leave this section blank. Will not having an answer put me at a disadvantage? Or at least be looked down upon?
@dring80418 thank you very much, this was very helpful. However, do you believe this difference is due to the caliber of the students? Students at top schools usually outperform those of tier 2 and 3 schools with their LSATs and GPAs. Do you think these students are just more prepared or stronger academically?
@dring80418 I'm not sure what you're referring to? The bar passage rate? Or it's easier to pass exams in the T-14? Can you please elaborate?
@krishna1414409 ok thank you, I think i'll try to get everything out before the end of the month
@micahbowden7710oshun1 I did google it, however there wasn't much of a consensus that I found. However, thank you this was very helpful
I was wondering how different tier 1, 2, and 3 law schools are academically. Will a t-14 school typically be more difficult than a tier 2 school. If so, how large is the difference? Or is the difficulty level similar, and the prestige is what sets these schools apart? Do people sometimes choose schools based on their teaching styles and how demanding the work load will be? Would it be smart to attend a tier 2 school where you think you can excel, or a top law school where you know you will be overwhelmed.
Hey everyone, so I've gotten out the bulk of my applications but I still want to submit more. I'm honestly just waiting on my next few paychecks. It's difficult to afford all these applications especially during the holidays. So would applying late December early January put me at a disadvantage? Should I just put the rest of my apps on a credit card? Please let me know if I should be submitting my apps asap.
Hey everyone, I'm wondering what is grammatically correct. I know for ex. Fall 2017 would be capitalized. However would "In the fall of 2017" be capitalized as well?

Wow very interesting. Seems like the consensus is all over the place. I guess we'll just have to wait to find out what this cycle will be like. I'm hoping spivey's prediction is correct though.
@dring80418 thank you
