Hi! Something I do is get sunlight as early in the morning as possible, also exercise if that works with my schedule that day. I have a sunlight lamp for the cloudy days (I live in Canada) which I find is reslly helpful, especially paired with a Vitamin D supplement. I take deep breaths when I feel tired, and if it’s a result of poor sleep, I deliberate if I need to take a break.

Hey! I’m actually on a gap year right now, I graduated from university in May. If I don’t get into law school this cycle, I’d have to take another year off. We’re in a similar boat (besides the broken bone part, very sorry to hear that), so just know you’re not alone!

Try to look at an additional year as more time to make money. I know it can feel like you’re behind, but there are lots of people in their 30’s and 40’s starting law school! Everything is going to work out how it should, and I’m wishing you the best!

Maybe you could take a couple days off? No studying or thinking about studying, that could help! I also understand that everyone’s situation is different so this may not be feasible, but I hope you can figure something out!

Break Before LSAT?

Hello everyone,

I started studying for the LSAT on June 1st, and I’m taking the test on October 9th. I took a week off studying at the end of July because I felt burnout coming.

I am not feeling burnout now as much as lack of taking care of myself, and I was wondering if anyone has thoughts on taking a week long break 1 month before the LSAT? It would be September 1st-8th. I am concerned about becoming worse at questions if I break…

As well, I am planning to switch to the biggest package (I’m on the middle one right now) for the last month. Due to money, I cannot afford to pay for the biggest package for two months. I’ll look into the conditions, but if I cancel and then resubscribe, my information will still exist, correct?

Thank you,

MJ from Canada

😖 Frustrated

Stamina, Accommodations, and Struggle

Hello everyone,

My name is MJ or Madi, I am writing the LSAT for the first and only time in October. Although I live close enough to a testing centre to write there, due to accommodations, I am writing online from home. I have just taken another practice test (PT122 without experimental) and I am feeling quite discouraged. I was doing pretty well for the first section (LR) and half of the second section (RC), but by the time I got to the second half of RC, I felt tired and stressed. I finished the first LR section with only a few minutes remaining, and that led me to absolutely blaze through the second half of the test, hardly even reading passage four, and not diagramming anything for the third LR section.

I know I can do this, I know I'm smart, and I know I'm capable. However, the school I want to go to only takes into account two things: Your LSAT (50% of the decision) and your GPA (50% of the decision). To get into this school, which is the only one I want to go to and is the closest to me, I believe I need around a 165 or so. Currently PTing at about 151.

This leads me to my call for help. I am looking for effective ways to increase my stamina with taking the LSAT. I tend to lose my sustained focus about half-way through, and it leads me to not think as hard. I truly appreciate any and all advice given. I have been studying since June 1st, and took a week off at the end of July as I felt burnout creeping up on me.

Sincerely,

MJ from Canada

First Time Writer- Writing From Home

Hello, everyone! I am seeking answers from people who've written the LSAT online from home, due to any circumstances. Because of my circumstances, I am writing from home, and I have questions.

  1. How do they monitor your scratch paper to ensure it's blank before you start?

  2. What did you do during the ten minute break? I saw on the website you can leave and eat, use the washroom, stretch, etc. I am going to attempt to use the break to prevent my eyes from becoming strained from blue light, but what did you do?

  3. If you had upstairs neighbours (hello from Canada by the way), since you couldn;t wear earplugs, what did you do? I have asked my roommates to leave, and we aren't running the appliances for the exam.

  4. If you had a pet, what did you do? This one worries me. I have a cat who, if in my room, will jump on my computer. If not, she will meow at the door, and it's distracting. Can't get someone to take her for the day, either.

  5. Any other advice or tips?

Thank you!
