Printing PTs

Hi everyone,

So sorry for the stupid question, but I'm trying to print PT 80 and don't see an icon to print it when it's opened. Am I missing something? How do you print the PTs off?

Thanks!

Blind Review Technique

Hi everyone! I'm relatively new to 7Sage and have a question about blind review. When you go through it, do you use the same copy of the test that you did your PT on, or a blank copy? And also, does anyone use highlighters or write anything down (i.e. your thought process), or do you just go through it as you would a timed section just without a time restraint?

Under my previous study plan, I was reviewing my PTs on the same copy and highlighting somewhat excessively. I feel like this maybe wasn't the best approach.

Thanks so much and happy studying :)

How to Become a Morning Person

Hi guys,

I'm sure the answer to this question is pretty simple (just wake up earlier regularly) but I'm very much a night person and even after a month of waking up at 6am trying to force myself to be mentally active earlier in the day, I still can't write a PT until 11 or noon at the earliest. I just wrote the June 2017 exam and am retaking (set to rewrite in December), but I'm seriously considering deferring law school an entire year to be able to write in June again for the sake of time. Is this extreme?? Should I just wait it out and see if I can adjust??

I should also mention I was PTing in the 166-172 range before getting a 158 (mostly due to test anxiety). So I feel like more time could be beneficial for the sake of my score anyway?

Any advice from reformed night people would be appreciated!

Retake Approach One Year Later

Hello everyone!

I wrote the June 2017 exam and scored much lower than my average PT result, and after not getting into my first choice school I've decided to retake when I'm ready to score in a higher range. I'll definitely be following the core curriculum and study plan 100% when I get back from a vacation I have planned, but I was just wondering if anyone who's retaken the LSAT over a year later has any tips on getting back into the zone here?

Thanks so much for any answers, and happy studying!

No problem! Happy to be of any help. Remember, you can retake those newer tests you've already taken, as well as the sections. I think PTs can be done 3x and still have amazing efficacy for your skill improvement. Sure, you can't put too much stock in the scores of retakes, but scores aren't what's important. Learning to get better and improving so you score well on the real test is... So don't worry!

Yeah -- highlighter seems like overkill. Though, I once saw a post of a 170er on TLS who claimed to have used one. Different strokes for different folks!

thanks so much! Great to know I haven't wasted too many resources!! Would you recommend, then, that I just incorporate timed sections and PTs while completing the curriculum?

@ What is the Nicole Hopkins notation strategy?

Watch the video a couple times then try it out- amazing strategy in my opinion!

Thanks so much for the reply and for your words of encouragement!

I was following a self-study method, and had actually only actually done 10 full, timed PTs (SuperPrep A, B,C, 72, 78, 73, 80, 70, 76, 75), but the self-study method I was following advised that I take timed sections so I've done (in parts) most of the PTs from 50-70... I'm now seeing that probably wasn't the greatest approach!

Thankfully the games are pretty much mastered- I got the section perfect on the June 2017 exam and hadn't gotten less than 21/23 in my prep. I definitely struggle with RC though, averaging -9 to -6, with -11 on the actual exam. Logical reasoning typically comes somewhat well to me, averaging -6 to -3, but on the exam I panicked and got -7 and -11 on the sections. Timing is definitely somewhat of an issue, but I was always strict on timing when I did my PTs.

But thank you for your direction! I've been following Nicole Hopkins' notation strategy since I started my retake studying and it's been incredibly helpful, though I definitely need more practice (the self-study method I followed advised that I use a highlighter. Might work for some but on the exam it was absolutely not practical for me).

Thanks again!

Retake and Core Curriculum

Hi everyone!

I wrote the LSAT in June and scored at 158 after PTing 165+, so I'm planning on retaking in September. I've purchased the Starter course and am going through the core curriculum now, and though I'm definitely learning lots to help me later, I was wondering if I should also be incorporating timed sections? I really don't want to waste any time, but I want to get the most out of the course!

Thanks :)

When you come across NA questions and there's an obvious gap in the argument, should you be directly looking for the bridging AC? Generally speaking, is that the pattern the LSAT writers follow?

I had 2 RC sections, 2 LR, and 1 LG (in that order from what I recall).

In my last LR, I noticed a sort of grammatical error in one of the questions towards the end (maybe around #17 or so). I don't remember the exact phrasing. In the middle of a sentence in the stimulus it said something like "but and". It was two conjunctions that did not make sense together. Anyone else notice that?

COMPLETELY agree with all of this. I also had an experimental LR and I thought the three of them were very difficult, but I thought maybe there was something wrong with me because I too struggle with RC and got through it with time to spare. That one passage about the psychologists and children was a bit tricky but the judges/jazz and the other one were doable in my opinion.

This is SUCH a specific question to ask on the topic of testing environment, but do you guys know if the test is usually administered in such a way that the entire classroom is not doing the same section? I wrote it today and while I was doing LR many people were doing LG and it seriously threw me off that people were viciously drawing diagrams..

I think the actual order of tests (and experimental section) is different for booklets. Some people have LG-LR-RC-LG(ex)-LR and some have RC(ex)-LR-RC-LR-LG....

Yes thanks so much for clarifying! I was under the impression that there was some proper order to the PTs while I was in my prep and it didn't even occur to me that everyone would have different sections.

Thanks so much for the replies guys! I was PTing between 166-172, but my blind review score (like I said, I found 7Sage late so I didn't blind review as much as I should have) was 175-178, with most of my problems in reading comp. If I end up with a really low score on yesterdays exam though I think the biggest problem was just my test taking skills. I had done 24 practice exams (probably not enough) and I definitely did them in too quiet of an environment because the smallest things were throwing me off yesterday. I don't think I need to start back at the beginning but I need to do something to make sure that doesn't happen again!

Study Schedule for Retake + Exam environment??

Hi everyone! I wrote the LSAT today but am almost 100% positive I'm going to rewrite. I found 7Sage quite late in my prep (heartbreaking as this is such an amazing resource) and I definitely want to follow one of schedules here, but does anyone know what to pursue for the purpose of retaking?

Thanks!
