Have you tried going for a run a few hours before bed? I always sleep better after working out.

Hi guys. I’ve made a stupid mistake in my applications. I’ve already completed and send in most of my applications; however, I recently got my driving record and found out one of the two speeding tickets I got was 20+ and it counts a reckless driving which is considered a misdemeanor in the state I’m from. Is there anyway I could update this information on my application that I’ve already submitted by notifying the schools? It happened several years ago and honestly didn’t even realize it was so serious until I got my record. Should I just email or call the admissions office for each school I applied it?

The latter. Schools like Georgetown don’t update their status at all besides noting when the application is complete.

Hi all, hypothetical here. If you were planning to go into public interest, and you got a full ride to a T-6 (or Penn eg) vs HYS, would you take the full ride? How about if it were T-4 full ride vs HYS?

Thanks for your thoughts! :)

It would depend at least a little on financial aid from HYS. If your family is poor enough that could make a big dent in the cost difference. But for the sake of argument lets say it was HYS at full price with little to no need based grant aid.

For public interest, I'd take the full tuition anywhere in the Top 13 and probably at UT and Georgetown. I would lean Harvard with WUSTL, UCLA, and Vanderbilt.

If I was shakier on the commitment to public interest, I would probably make it a cut off at Northwestern. I don't like below Northwestern for Big Law chances.

If I actually was enthusiastic about Big Law I would probably only take the scholarship down to CCN. However, this is assuming I have some unnatural preference for Big Law other than just the money.

If I wanted to teach, you couldn't pay me not to go to the Top 3 and preferably Yale.

I’m curious why northwestern is your cutoff, because Cornell big law plus fed clerk is higher in 2016 than NU.

Sending application

Hi sorry this might be a stupid question, but how do I send my transcript and lsat score to the law school I'm applying to? When I checked out there was an additional $35 fee. Is it done automatically after i check out or do I need to do anything else? LSAC already processed my transcript from my university.

Your school's prestige isn't seriously taken into account. You can look at great schools like Yale which displays the schools that have been admitted this year. There are a handful of state schools there and I am sure they are still great schools.

What they do look at and analyze is your GPA and also your school's mean GPA. They look at the latter to determine whether grade inflation is present at your school or not. You can find these stats through your school's website.

Thanks for the info!

How much does undergrad prestige matter?

Sorry if this has already been addressed. Does anyone know how much law school admissions weight an applicants undergrad prestige? I'm graduating from a state school thats ranked outside of the top 100. How much would that adversely affect my chances? My GPA is in the 75 percentile for all the schools I'm looking at, and I am waiting on my September LSAT.

I am an asian applicant as well, and honestly, I believe you should just focus on the things that are within your control. I know that may not be too helpful, but you have enough things to worry about in terms of waiting for your LSAT score (if you don't already have it) and writing your personal statement and completing your applications that any added stressors will only increase you anxiety. I would just try to use your personal statement to distinguish yourself from all the other applicants. You don't have to be Malala to have a story to tell. There must be some reason you want to go to law school besides career prospects. I would just try to highlight that. Good luck!

No I didn't, my apps were already kinda late so I just sent them out as fast as I could. To be honest, I don't think Michigan even read my file; I think they just ran outta spots and started waitlsiting people, which is kinda annoying because I think I have pretty strong softs.

I dont mean to be a contrarian, but I highly doubt this is true. I submitted my Michigan app after the new year, and I didn’t write a why x essay either and I was admitted last week. My numbers are by no means an auto admit. I am not a URM, and I fully believe my LORs and PS was what put me over the top. I think it’s easy to be cynical during the heart of the cycle but I don’t find it helpful.

BTW, I’m not trying to be boisterous. Just trying to keep everyone else who’s still waiting on a decesion spirit up.

does anyone else feel really foggy about how they did? Like I came out it confused because I didn’t think any particular section was unreasonably difficult (expect that experimental RC); however, I also don’t feel really confident either. I feel like for any section I could have missed 3 more than my average, but I can’t point to any questions that gave me more trouble than any of the PTs

First, you should remember that the LSAT is not a proxy for intelligence or aptitude. Like all standardized tests, it can be learned and mastered. I honestly wouldn’t put too much stock into your diagnostic, and if you go through the old threads you’ll see plenty of people seeing huge increases. Good luck!

Some will ask you to send it (UPENN did) others will not wait and will review your application. I, however, did not instruct them to wait. I feel very confident my GPA will go up so I will push to have it in before they make any decisions regarding my application. I don't think my Gpa going up by .3 or .4 will make the biggest difference lol

Awesome thanks!

Application Question

I was wondering what would happen if I didn't apply this cycle. I already have my LOR and transcript sent in to LSAC. I'm planning on retaking the LSAT in December, but if I don't get the score I want again, I'll have to apply next cycle. Will I have to resend my transcript and ask for LORs again or can I use the same LOR and transcript for next cycle? Thanks!

Updating transcript on LSAC

I was wondering is it mandatory to update my transcript on lsac. I sent in my original transcript at the beginning of the semester. Do I need to send in another one after the semester ends and all the grades are in as well? My main concern is timing, because I want to send my apps in as soon as I get my December score. There’s no significant change in my GPA. maybe by like .01 points.

Wow that is terrific score increase! Do you mind me asking what you did differently between your 2 and 3 tries? A 10 point increase is huge!

Personal Statement

For those that are currently applying to law schools, I was wondering how much you guys tweaked your PS for each application. My generic statement is two, double-spaced, pages, but some of the schools I'm applying to allows up to four double-spaced pages. Are you guys sticking to the generic PS, or are you guys adding additional stuff into your PS for schools that allow longer PS?

Confirm action

Are you sure?
