I got A right not because gamma interferon stops white blood cells from producing but because it says " stops white blood cells from producing myelin destroying compounds". Well in the stimulus it says white blood cells destroy the myelin sheath not that it produces a compound and the compound does that destroys. Wondering if anyone else say this or if Im wrong but got it right anyways from process of elimination
Originally chose AC A and did not change it to C during BR even though it was a toss up for me. From my point of view this passage is mainly talking about scientist rather the ET life. So when we look at A it is talking about ET life but if we look at C it is talking about scientists. Question also tricked me cause I have been avoiding conclusions at the end each passage as we were told too. Now I know that rule is not absolute.
Immediately took out A and C without reading them because the word “if” shows a conditional. Stimulus says nothing about that.
For anyone that needs extra help understanding this problem this is what I did. My diagram was a little different. CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG IN MY THINKING
*
Stimulus tells us:
If you are a material body ( MB) then you are divisible (D). And if you are divisible(D) then you are imperfect(IMP). Spirit (S)is not a material body(MB).
MB→D→IMP ( the setup) as soon as you read spirit is not a material body it should all click.
----------------------------------------------
S→/MD→/D→/IMP
AC explanations
A. Everything divisible is a material body. ( In my mind I knew this was wrong because it was going against the arrows in the diagram aka they flipped the direction)
B. Nothing imperfect is divisible. (Same as AC A wrong this is saying if you are perfect you are divisible but this would also be going against the arrows )
C. The spirit is divisible ( wrong because spirit is not a material body and only a material body can be divisible)
D. Correct because when you put S in front of /MB you can infer S→/IMP which means it is perfect.
E. The spirit is either indivisible or imperfect ( just wrong can be one or the other has to match. either divisible and imperfect or indivisible and perfect.)
If someone could help me with this question and show why every AC is wrong and why the right one is right it would be very helpful.
PT 2 S2 Question 11
"If the forest continues to disappear at its present pace, the koala will approach extinction," said the biologist.
"So all that is needed to save the koala is to stop deforestation," said the politician."
Which of the following statements is consistent with the biologist's claim but not with the politician's claim ?
A. Deforestation continues and the koala becomes extinct
B. Deforestation is stopped and the Koala goes Extinct
C. Reforestation begins and the koala survives
D. Deforestation is slowed and the Koala Survives
E. Deforestation is slowed and the koala approaches extinction
I viewed C as wrong because from the stimulus we don't know the origins of the nucleomorphs. AC C tries to say that nucleomorphs can only be created by the process of endosymbiosis. Where do we see this in the stimulus? no where !
At least this is what my thought process was.
