June 2015 retake approach advice needed!

Hello all you LSAT wizards!

Was hoping you could help me figure out a study approach for the June Lsat. I took the test in October and got a 152, then signed up for the 7sage Starter about 5 weeks before the December exam. I completed the curriculum just in time and did about 7 preptests before writing the test. I got a 158. So, June is my last shot to get the best score I can. I upgraded to the LSAT Premium, as I had purchased almost all of the newer preptests through Cambridge, and didn't see the sense in going for the Ultimate right away. I may still upgrade to ultimate tho.

My plan is to review the curriculum from the beginning, and use the foolproof method for games, while taking a preptest a week until June. It's been almost 2 months since I've touched the material, but I hope it'll come back quickly.

Any other retakers out there? Can you offer any tips for retaking?

Many many kindest thanks!

Off 4g data... I like to use it at the gym and they don't have wifi there. But it also happens sometimes when I'm on wifi. Sounds like I'm just going to have to deal with it, huh?

So just to be clear, our current access to PT PDFs will remain unchanged until April 24th right? I won't be able to download them until March 30th....

Hey @, you're SA explanation is really helpful. I struggle with these questions and find that diagramming distracts me and I lose sense of all intuition. I'm relieved to see it's not just me, and that diagramming is not absolutely necessary. I'm going to approach these questions your way from now on, and only diagram if I'm truly stuck.

Do you have any recommendations on how to approach RA questions?

Yea, I really have no idea what to expect since I have no way to gauge the difficulty of the exam. Fingers crossed. Two more weeks to go!

Yea @ I think so. At this point all I remember is that the last RC passage was about sand dunes in Mongolia. Does that ring a bell?

That's what I was thinking... Thanks @

Curve for unpublished test centre LSAT

Hey all,

I sat the December LSAT at an unpublished test site in Japan, and from what I understand, the test I took was not the same as the one taken by those in North America. What I don't know is whether the test I took is the same as others took at published test centres outside of North America, or whether the test I took was completely different from both.

Also, does anyone know whether the same curve will apply to all tests administered in December, regardless of testing location?

Hey danballinger, thanks for the speedy and thorough response! I think your suggested approach is dead-on. Over the past few days I've been pounding away at the intro lessons to make sure I fill any gaps in theory, and then solidifying with the drills. I've also been doing individual sections using the BR method.

I'm planning on powering through all the lessons that target my weak points up front, and then focusing on full timed PTs during the last couple weeks. I wrote numerous timed LSATs when leading up to the October sitting, and found that my endurance was pretty good, so I'm hoping that a little break won't do much harm. I just don't see the sense in wasting full exams when I know I still have evident problem areas that I can address through lessons. Especially when completion of those lessons almost guarantee at least a bit of an improvement.

Anyhow, good luck in December!

Study schedule advice for new joiner

Hey All!

I'm sitting the December 7th LSAT after a brutal attempt on October 5th (I wrote it in Tokyo, hence the weird date). After a nightmarish 24 hours leading up to the exam (logistical issues, panic attacks, sleeping pills), I wrote the exam in a daze and scored 152. I was averaging 162 on my practice tests so I was pretty devastated.

Anyhow, regardless of the aforementioned horrors, I realize there are holes in my prep, so I decided to sign up for 7sage. I've been studying regularly and diligently since May using a combination of Mike Kim's LSAT Trainer, many real LSAT exams/practice sets as well as other free resources available online including JY's logic games video explanations - which I really loved. I completed the free trail in May, and am kicking myself for not signing up in the first place. But, here I am now, and I'm hoping that the right approach will help me consolidate my knowledge and solidify my skills. After just a few of JY's lessons and drills, I can confidently say: this shit's AWESOME!

I think I have a pretty good fundamental understanding, but timing is my biggest enemy in all 3 sections (duh) and especially in LG and RC. Only having about a month left to prepare, I'm not sure it's possible - nor advisable - to try to work through ALL of the material in the starter course, so I'm hoping for advice on how to structure a study schedule that would be most effective for my situation.

I understand that this is highly subjective depending on numerous factors, but any help determining a course of action would be greatly appreciated.

Domo arrigato!

Thanks @ and @. I'm not sure what you mean by the 'grab a rule' question. Does this mean a question that gives us extra information?

Help please! Approach for odd/hard LG?

Hey guys! I'm dreading that one oddball LG and am terrified that under pressure I'll freeze up and not even know how to start diagramming. I was wondering if anyone has a strategy or some pointers for what to do when you realize that the scenario doesn't fit into any of our standard set ups?

I can relate to this as well. I usually try to do as much work I can up front and sometimes there is a big payoff ( I can power through the questions very quickly), but other times I need to recopy the relevant gameboard over and apply the question's local rule anyway-- and the intital work ends up being a big waste of time. I find it hard to distinguish when to solve for all possible worlds, and when to go into the questions after just making sure I have a good understanding of how the rules interact.

Confirm action

Are you sure?
