"The greatest sleep of all sleeps."
jealous
I can give a pretty clear rundown of how the test went for me:
Order: RC, LR (25), LG, RC (experimental), LR (26 – hardest section)
RC coming out of the gate was not optimal for me. I’ve drilled RC’s for (-1) but that ranges up to (-7) on a bad section and the 1st section of the day is rarely the best section of the day. I’ve realized that IF I miss a Main Point Q on a passage I’ll miss (-3) or (-4) on that passage total. (-0) or (-1) is standard on any passage which I don’t miss a MP, and usually that has to come from a tough inference. The Multiverse passage #2 is the one that’s keeping me up at night, the comparative passage 3rd was nothing compared with September's, and the 4th passage was fine but just a bit more difficult and convoluted (typical theory-based late passage). Overall a fine RC in terms of difficulty, just bummed I got hit with it out of the gate.
The 25 Q LR section 2nd was solid. Nothing too unusual and they were kind to give us a || Flaw in the 1st 10 Q’s (meaning that I knew there was no || Flaw coming at Q 25 or anything). There were plenty of na’s, Flaws and inferences so nothing unexpected. Can't remember 1 sa which is sad. Less late inferences than I thought there might be, but they were still there (I think the 1 I skipped from this section for my timing purposes was a Q 22 Must Be False that looked like a monster). A late Role Q at 20 stood out — they usually make those tricky in the answer choices. I've also been laughing at how often I've read about the dolphin assumption Q at 24 - no friggin clue there. I also remember a nice || Q late and a good amount of str/wk late but no Eval!! So, generally, the 25 Q LR was about as good as one could’ve hoped for.
The LG section 3rd was a bummer for me because I’m absolutely fired and ready to dominate during the 3rd section and LG is by far my strongest (so I was hoping for the 26 LR or an RC). Games 1 and 2 were a breeze and I’m not just saying that because I get -0’s on Analytical, but game 1 was the nicest selection/sequencing hybrid game you’ll ever see and game 2 was a kind little 5 entity sequencer. Game 3 was admittedly difficult –> lot of Formal Logic to keep track of and the open/closed aspect added an element to track but made for an easy rule sub Q. Game 4 was the most unusual with them giving us 8 entities and those entities being numbers rather than letters. There was one crucial rule to keep track of with the 3 before the 7 before the 5 and the 4 working around the 3 and the 5 (hopefully that’s general enough not to warrant a removal of this comment thread). All in all, LG was expectedly fine. 2 rule sub Q’s probably made some people mad.
4th section was the experimental RC. Probably the easiest 1st 2 passages I've ever seen and I basically started thinking about the upcoming 26 LR.
The 26 LR was a monster. I’m sure you guys with LR as your strongest were fine with it, but it was definitely no breeze. I can remember a tough inference at Q12 that told me I wasn't in Kansas anymore, a Flaw at 15 which got me, an inf at Q18 about the T-rex which was tough (lot of Formal Logic to play out), a late MoA at 20 which they often make tricky and no friendliness this time with the || at 23 and the || Flaw at 26.
That’s a lot to digest, but should be pretty helpful to compare your experience with. I generally score range between (-3) to (-6) on LR while leaving 1-2 on timing. I have a bigger range for RC from (-1) to (-7) which is why I’m nervous about that 1st RC section. LG generally (-0). Happy finals
LG is easy, here's a tip or two before Saturday--
let's agree to ignore the acceptability Q's because they are easy, free points (assumption: easy, free points are worthy of being ignored) and there are only 4 Q types in LG: (1) if's (2) CBT/CBF (3) MBT/MBF (4) rule sub.
23 Q's / section - 4 acceptability Q's = 19 Q's.
rule sub will likely show up once, possibly twice if I'm lucky (important note: Don't waste your time with a rule sub Q if you're getting less than 20/23 on avg).
19 Q's - 1 rule sub = 18 Q's.
if's are a personal favorite Q type because (in a world of rules) IF you get an 'if Q' THEN sketch. Just sketch it out with the new rule ya bum. Make sure you have a good master sketch from the beginning and you should never miss an 'if Q' if you're any good at this test.
cbt/cbf are easy as well IF you have a good sense of the entities and the rules governing them in the game. If you get an if Q and its cbt/cbf it's easy pickings. cbt/cbf are just possibilities folks. They just want to know what's possibly right or possibly wrong! Bang these Q types out via process of elimination a - e.
mbt/mbf are my least favorite but they're fine. Of the 18 Q's generally between if's / could be's / must be's per section, mbt/mbf shows up least but you'll get 4+. These baby's often require more than 1 sketch at least be seen in your "mind's eye" and if it's an if Q then you for sure want to sketch out all possible options. Plug as far as you can go with the given info. then process of elimination from a - e. (A note on these: These are the toughest Q types not including rule sub and must be handled with care. The tentmakers often give you limited information with these Q's and you'll be sitting there with like 3 options for your sketch and you can only place 2 out of 6 entities in any sketch, for example. While you're fumbling away your precious time searching for more information in the rules or the directions or the question, you really just need to work with the limited information you have and just comb through the answers a - e. All the info you need is right there! Make use of your time!)
Truth be told, I'm heading into my 3rd LSAT and I've been hitting LG sections at -0 since September, so I'll try to make my own logic games now rather than take another LG section I've already taken and get a -0 in 20 minutes. So. Yah, I rambled. If this helps, good for you, good for me :)
good luck.
Pray for me when it's 12:30 tomorrow, 4 sections are done, and I'm staring a 26 Q LR section in the face to finish out my LSAT career.
