B and D seem to imply each other which is why I got it right the first time and wrong on blind review.
the is a PoE answer.
as much as I hate picking apart arguments and criticizing the LSAT writers.. they formed the argument that because they are rate as consistently better than a child's then it is aesthetically pleasing
so what if the children smeared paint on the walls and called it art? the argument established in the premise is that if Jackson Pollock did the same, it would be stylistically similar but better than the child's.
regardless of our external opinions as it relates to both of these paintings being terrible, the argument says that the comparative "being better" is what establishes the fact that the Pollocks are pleasing in context of the argument, whereas the absolute seems irrelevant.
like if the students pictures WERE aesthetically displeasing but stylistically equal, then Pollocks would even more clearly be better and would still refute the claim and establish according to the argument that pollock's are better, which is a valid argument even if it's not true in an absolute sense.
interested in hearing the response to this
this question is easy is you know the definition of impugn can be 'dispute the truth/validity' of something
ah so this is best understood as an argument being presented against someone who says
'evolution DOES optimize'
D is terribly explained
i have never in my life seen 'obtain' used in the intransitive form.
because it's apparently exclusively used in academic research writing, its usage is so rare that even academics think you've made a mistake if you use the intransitive form of the verb.
checked the PT and it's from 2011, hopefully they've cleaned up weird language idiosyncrasies that most academics would question
yeah i just misread this one at the end
useless feedback on E when it's a huge trap
why A is wrong needs to be explained way more clearly. the explanation only seems to reinforce why people would pick it.
It sounds like people have used them before, but they’re not “allowed” because they’re less reliable and you might drop signal on a several hour tests. Seems like plenty of people have used them for writing fine tho.
