Look back at the logical indicator lesson. The use of the words "any" and "only" each indicate a different assumption. For answer A, the use of "any" indicates that experiencing pain is the sufficient condition (SC), and thus being mistreated is the necessary condition (NC). Answer C's use of "only" indicates that experiencing pain is the NC, so being mistreated is therefore the SC. An easy check I do when I'm stuck between these answers is say in my head "If I'm SC, then I require NC". For answer choice A that would mean I'd be saying "If I'm experiencing pain, I'm being mistreated", which doesn't hold up with the argument, one doesn't NEED to be mistreated to be experiencing pain. Answer choice C on the other hand translates to "If I'm being mistreated, then I'm experiencing pain", which is EXACTLY what the argument is saying.
