First LSAT Questions

I have been studying for about 2 months and am still in the LR section of the CC. I am getting nervous as to how much time I will be able to devote to PTs before my exam in August to have a chance to retake before fall 2021 admissions. Approximately how many should be completed and BR before taking an actual test? Does anyone have any advice on getting through the CC quicker, or which sections would be most important to focus on? Any advice in general would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!

@ , thank you for your response. I have only been studying for a little over a month, and wanted to get a baseline score on the July or August test. I am not sure of my strongest points right now, as I only took one diagnostic and got a 140 and have been going through the Core Curriculum, but I thought it may be a good idea to stick to a flex first since all three sections are weighted equally. What are your thoughts on that?

@ , thank you so much! Did you find that LG was harder? I read that a few people suggested taking Flex if you are good at LG because of the way the questions were.

Flex or no Flex?

With the deadline for the July test approaching in a few days... would it be best to take the July test as most likely Flex, or wait until August? I talked to a rep today about another topic and she mentioned that every single state has to be opened to go back to normal testing- all or nothing. I would love to hear from those who took Flex and the pros and cons!

Hi! Older PTs are not necessarily easier, but are different - compared to the 80s, the 30s tend to have harder/trickier games, but slightly easier RC and LR sections. I do think practicing in the 80s can better prepare you for the real day, since there have been several changes over the last decade (comparative reading passages on RC, substitution equivalence questions on LG, and less of an emphasis on formal logic in LR but more of a focus on critical, detail-oriented reading). Recent flex tests have drawn from undisclosed tests 2012/2013 on (so the 70s/80s), so practicing those most resembles what you'll likely see. Some people do have an initial score dip (which recovers) when doing tests in the 80s, so practicing some in advance of the test might help.

Thank you so much! Will definitely complete those.

PT Order & Advice before Aug Test!

Hi everyone! I am taking my test on the 29th, and unfortunately did not plan out my CC well enough to spend much time PTing. I have taken PT 37 (June 2002) and scored a 142, PT 38 (Oct 2002) and scored a 146, and PT 39 (Dec 2002) and scored a 157. I plan to take at least 2 or 3 more tests before the 29th to ensure having enough time to BR and relax before test day. Is there any specific PT order that I should follow for my upcoming PTs? Should I take newer PTs, rather than going in order? Are the older PTs that I have already taken "easier", and that is why I am increasing my score so much, or can I expect these scores to be a good baseline for my August test? Any thoughts, suggestions, tips, etc. are welcome! Thanks in advance :)

@ , how were you able to get through the CC in three weeks? Did you watch all videos, and complete all timed sets? I am planning to take the July LSAT (as my first LSAT test) but I am only beginning the strengthening questions section of the CC. I am worried that I will need to push back the test until August because starting next week I will only be able to devote about 20-25 hours of studying a week. I have noticed that I spend more time as I go through the CC than it predicts it will take.

I am in a similar boat, making the decision between the July LSAT Flex and taking it in August (I don't want to write it later in the year once school starts back up). I decided to post-phone and take the August test purely because I am not prepared enough and wanted more time to study. I think the August LSAT will be an LSAT Flex regardless. So I would make the best decision for you in terms of where you're at with studying.

Thanks so much for your response, I am glad that we can relate. Can I ask what makes you so sure that August will be Flex? Honestly, I feel like I would be more prepared for August's test date but it seems to be beneficial as a first time LSAT-taker to go Flex.
