my rushed brain took in AC C as Judy had made a promise to the doctor-- if this was the case, would AC C be right or am I missing something? thanks!!

on a different question explanation, it was said that we should try to parallel the degree of certainty as much as possible. I was between A and E, and I decided that E, as others below have commented, that the A or B nature didn't align enough, but I also thought because it had a higher degree of certainty than "we know" (it had intelligence reports indicating), then that isn't as good as A. I thought of the general form as

We know if x, then y. Not Y, so no X.

This conformed roughly to the stim and AC A, especially regarding the level of certainty. Can someone please help me understand why and when the degree of certainty should be used and when it shouldn't? JY just kinda dismisses A as if it's stupid, and that made me confused :/

could someone help me out with 14? I am noticing a pattern of getting the author's primary purpose questions wrong, and it seems like JY thinks they're very easy. I chose C, since I thought the word "criticize" was too strong in D, because the author didn't explicitly "go after" the European theories, just essentially implied they weren't complete/universally applicable. Can anyone help me either with this specific one or strategies for identifying the author's purpose? this is a struggle for me! thanks!

I have the same question; I know you posted a while ago, but wondering if you (or anyone reading this!) figured it out?

I think part of my problem with A was that it talks about common law, which I thought was totally separate from property law, which was the topic of the second paragraph.

I hate how much legal jargon they expect us to know! It's like that's why I'm going into the field! I think/hope later PT's don't have such expectations.

this is late and coming from an econ major, so maybe I just think this way, but I think inappropriate in this context is referring to the economy, and what is appropriate (i.e. needed) to satisfy the needs people had, and forced labor becoming inappropriate means it wasn't as necessary as it used to be...or at least that's how I took it.

Please lmk if you have more questions! sorry if my answer isn't clear!

eschew means actively avoiding, not sure if you just didn't know when reading the passage or you are still confused on the meaning, but yeah its a tricky word! This might not be helpful, but I would look up "lsat vocab words, quizlet" and many kind people have put together lists of 400+ words that are helpful on the LSAT! I wish we could have a specific list (I know JY gave one somewhere in the cc, but its obviously never all-encompassing), but such is the nature of this...unique... test :) good luck w studying!

for anyone somewhat intimidated by 5, if you have the time, I would advise somehow crossing off all the lines that are exactly the same (in this case it's just the first line of each AC), because then you have less to read when you're panicking and trying to find what is actually different about them! notice where each one diverges from the other and that helps a lot!

Entering data into problem sets taken on paper

Hi all, apologies if this has already been asked or is very clear to others, but I'm wondering about the entering of problem set data (what I chose for each question on problem sets in the CC), if I took them on paper (printed the pdf off), and then went through it. I don't want the analytics to "think" I did the PS in like 1 minute for example, because I could enter the data in a minute, but I actually took say 7 minutes.

Does anyone know how to do this, if it affects timing or anything?

Thanks!

A. I love your username! great reminder!

B. It might be that I was born in 1998, but I really had 0 idea what the tape part of the comment meant. If you've figured it out since then, please let me know!

C. Good luck :)

for question 5, I chose D. This is because I thought the encryption system would be universal to the company, i.e. if some workers had it, the boss would definitely have it as well. This, as the author mentioned, would lead to just slightly more of an inconvenience (I modified to slightly because with this system it would only be a single keystroke), but wouldn't it, if people are thinking they're sending encrypted emails but actually everyone has the system guarantee only a minimal level of privacy and wouldn't be worth the cost? I don't get how, if everyone has it (because its a system), that it would reduce the difficulty of attempting to safeguard the privacy of email?

Any help would be appreciated!!

HI Brando 123, Thank you

Yes! I also realize sometimes I struggle with questions like this where I disagree with the person I'm "trying to help" (i.e. not weaken their argument) more strongly, so I find myself implicitly looking for something that aligns with my views.

I also find it helpful to explain things to ppl, so if you ever want me to try to explain stuff, let me know!!

Good luck studying :)

What about the first sentence, saying that the US is "far behind"? Would that not indicate that the volunteer JLM com are worse somehow in the US (concluding the only diff is that US is voluntary)? I feel like A is just too presumptuous...everyone is referencing the second sentence but how do we know reducing occupational injuries was the only measure of success we were looking at? Initially it seemed like a contradiction almost if you view success solely as reducing occup. injuries because how could the US be "far behind" while having the same rate of occup. injuries? there must be some other measure of success, which led me to believe that making JLM's mandated by law to be right...

please help!!!!

I don't know if this helps, but from a fellow LSAT studyer that sometimes gets ones wrong and JY kind of dismisses the AC I chose quickly, I hope I can help.

The author is trying to say that its not the seals' fault that the cod population has declined.

I've found that in "weakening" questions, they don't usually introduce a new element in the right answer, like in this case, for answer A, bringing people into this is irrelevant. I saw A as a viable option at first as well, and then I remembered that bit of advice, not sure if it was in the comment section on a diff video or JY said it, but try not to "force" an answer to work. Yes, you could conceivable come up with an argument that A does weaken the argument, but 1. people are irrelevant 2. don't try to force it to work.

For me, it's hard to hit "refresh" in my brain every time I read a new answer option, but maybe try to slow down at first, and look at the implications that jump out at you, don't infer anything...hope that helps?

good luck!!
