JY says 40 I believe. But you should be good with 25.

Also, as others stated you should double check to see what if anything you signed regarding academic integrity under covid-19. Then check your schools policies, manuals, and by-laws. What you want to really do is find some legal ground that you can stand on. You will want to find out the appeals process for these decisions and see if you can make a direct appeal to the Provost at your school or someone of similar standing.

I think saying that your confession/reflection was made under duress is a good start. Also, most schools have a clause in their by-laws in regards to the ramifications of improper academic advice - telling a student to confess to violating school policy without producing evidence would appear to fall under that category as it creates a punitive effect.

I feel like there is information missing from this story - are you saying that you confessed to a violation of school policy solely because of your guilty conscience and your professor had no actual evidence that would be able to hold water?

Also I am confused how he "caught a-lot of people for cheating" - this sounds like a bluff that law enforcement frequently uses... come on your applying to law school you should know this!!

It would be helpful to know what exactly you wrote in your confession - but nevertheless one could make a reasonable argument that you wrote it under duress. You confessed to something you didn't do for a lesser punishment instead of trying to defend yourself against a claim based on the absence of evidence..

PT and LSAT-Flex prep

I would like to know the communities thoughts on how to study for upcoming flex tests. My thought is that it no longer makes sense to take standard full length PT's if you are planning on taking a flex test. Would taking three sections instead of five be advisable? Obviously it cannot hurt to do more questions - but as JY has mentioned many times - the goal of PT's is to recreate test day conditions...

@ Thank you! When are you taking your test?

I definitely could’ve worked smarter - I spent a lot of time in the beginning just doing question sets and practice tests. I never finished the CC but I tried to go through it focusing on my weak areas.

My biggest regret is that I rarely used blind review and am going to do that going forward.

How was the loophole? I think I will get that.

Thank you 7sage!

When I took the LSAT for the first time I did horribly. I got a 143 and was in the 20th percentile.

After 4 months of studying (2 of which were here on 7sage - the other 2 were on Khan Academies official LSAT course) I took the June Flex test and got my results back.

I have increased my score by over 20 points to165 which puts me in the 91st percentile.

I am about to register for the August test so I will be here for a while but I really wanted to express my gratitude to the entire 7sage community and to JY in particular!

As of today, the trajectory of my life has changed. I am forever grateful.

Now I can confidently say "I'm [going to be] a lawyer" in my best Harvey Levin impersonation.

What time do scores post?

The June flex scores are suppose to be released today. Will LSAC send an email or do we have to check our account?

I am far too nervous to check my account.

Also, we have until July 31st to write our essays right? I already have one on file but wanted to do it again.

Hi @ the CC when you take away a majority of the practice questions comes out to roughly 100hrs. Since you’ll presumably be taking a lot of PT I would advise skipping a lot of the practice exercises and creating your own practice sets after taking a few PTs and using the analytics to see what your weak sections are.

The consensus is to take as many PTs as possible but remember to Blind Review! JY says that that number is ~40/45 PT. Given the time constraints I would shoot for at least 25.

One final note. I listened to JYs videos at 2x speed and found it to be very easy to understand it wasn’t hard to hear at all so you might want to try that and see if it works for you!

Best of Luck!

@ Hey, first off congrats on getting a 163! I would apply now because you have a good LSAT but your GPA is on the lower end. Not to be a cynic but taking it again and waiting to apply, does not guarantee a better score, but it will guarantee that there are less available spots.

Short of scoring above 170, I do not see any benefit to waiting, and if you were to get a 170+ you should reconsider your reach/target schools anyway.

Goodluck!

I personally believe 7sage is a worthwhile investment - the Core Curriculum is 215 hours however when you start to exclude the drills that number drops down to ~100 hours. Seeing that you have 47 days left (unless LSAC makes it a flex and pushes it back a week) you could definitely spend 5 hours a day for 20 days (staggered) and complete the lessons and then go back and review as necessary. My advice would be to take a few PT's on 7sage your first week and review your analytics so you know what to prioritize.

After you identify your weaknesses review the CC lessons for those topics/sections first then decide what else is worth reviewing - for example there is almost no point in reviewing the Logic Game lessons if you were consistently getting - 0 or -1.

The most important thing you can do given the time constraint is to do as many PT & BR as possible - hopefully you are able to find out sooner than later if it will be a flex because then you can take 3 section PT. I would shoot for taking 20 between now and test day but do not wait until you finish the CC. I obviously cannot guarantee anything, but if you do this I cannot see a reason why you can break 170.

Best of luck!

First denial (surprise)

Last week I posted about my first decision where I got a full ride to one of my safety schools.

Today I got an email from another comparable safety school informing me that I was denied.

I am perplexed. The school that denied me only had my application for one week, which makes me very confused how they could reach a conclusion so quickly.

Even my reach schools haven't rendered denials (decisions) yet and the t14 schools I applied to have been in constant contact with me leading me to believe they are taking my application seriously.

While it is only one school - I am beginning to get fearful that this denial will is going to be a bleak forecast of things to come.

Does anyone have advice how to cope with this? It is quite disconcerning.

Got my first decision back today...

I am still on cloud nine, but I got my first admissions notification today.

In addition, to being accepted, I was awarded a full scholarship!

I am not a traditional applicant - it has taken me 9 years to finish my undergraduate degree and my GPA is sub 3.0 - when I first took the LSAT in 2017 I scored a 143.

Had it not have been for 7sage I would never have been able to increase my score so drastically and I doubt I would've been even seriously considered at any law school.

I never once entertained the idea of getting a scholarship - I thought that I would be lucky if any law school would look past my GPA and the various academic probations and dismissals that went along with my nine year journey.

Thank you to the whole 7sage team and especially my editor Ethan!

I wouldn't be here without you all.

Yale 250

I contemplated many topics but ultimately settled on Space Law as my topic.

It is my hope that whoever winds up reading my application enjoys what I wrote and appreciates that I did my best.

And no, while I was tempted, I did not make any Rick and Morty references.

Although now I wish I had.

I’m curious - for those who wrote a Yale 250 - what was your topic and did you have fun with it?

LSAT vs. GRE (comedy)

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but I was under the impression that the LSAT is the gold standard for Law School Admissions and while schools will not outright say this - the GRE is viewed less favorably since it's (somewhat) easier.

Anyway, I posted a screenshot on snapchat of a practice test I took yesterday (I got a 171) and this guy I know messages me telling me:

Test centers are closed AND

I should take the GRE instead.

I inform him about the remote proctored version. Before I can mention that the LSAT is a harder exam he goes on about how the law schools prefer the GRE...

He then asked me what my score was - even though he was responding to a post of my score - and recommended I apply to schools (that are not even T50)

I find it funny when people act like this and just thought I would share.

How to take the LSAT with extended time

I have a pretty severe case of ADHD and I will be taking the LSAT this coming June (as long as COVID-19 doesn't destroy the world!) My accommodations consist of double time and 10 minute breaks after sections 1,2,4. I just took my first practice test and I most definitely need the accommodations or else I would only finish ~10 questions per section BUT with my accommodations the exam is over 5 hours long and extremely mentally draining. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can build my endurance so I can do my best. I'm thinking of doing push-ups during my breaks because supposedly that helps?

Exactly two pages or less; unless you have done something extraordinary. Keep it concise, avoid redundancy, and follow directions.

Few things bother admissions officers more than applicants who disregard instructions, especially when your 2.5pg PS could've been 2pg with 10 minutes worth of editing.

Test Accommodations and Practice

I am going to be taking the June exam (assuming there will be a June exam) and have been granted several accommodations. I feel I have a decent grasp on a lot of the core course material and will continue to take PT while working on my weak areas. I have been taking proctored PT with the accommodations I was granted (2x time + extra breaks.) The problem I have noticed while taking double time PT's is that it is very time consuming (6.5 hrs.) I was wondering if I could get some advice as to how I should go about taking PT's.

In some respects I believe it is beneficial to take the test with the accommodations so that I can build my stamina - but I also think that it might be helpful to switch up the length of the PT's so I can get the most out of the time I have remaining. If anyone has experience with this I would love to hear from you. Thanks.

Yeah I'm taking the June test on Monday and figured that I could register for the August/October exams when I get my results back at the end of June if need be. I will get 2 and 3 extra months of studying respectively by doing this so I think it might be worthwhile.

I have taken the FLEX twice - the first time I had just renovated my bedroom/office so there was only a folding plastic desk and a chair the second time it looked like a regular office but my desk and anything in sight was clear.

On another remote proctored exam I got sheets and towels and covered my bookcase and tv and anything that could remotely be viewed as a violation. I am going to be doing that again for this upcoming test.

How to working on reading ability?

A while ago I remember reading a post somewhere that talked about ways to increase your reading ability with respect to the lsat. The main takeaway was of course to take pt and drill. However someone had mentioned that reading certain types of supplemental publications could also help. The only recommendation I remember was The Economist; can anyone suggest other sources?

Reading Comprehension Triage (Urgent!)

I will be taking the LSAT-Flex in t-minus 46 hours and am petrified about reading comp. My reading comp scores vary greatly -sometimes it is -8/9 and sometimes it is -0/1. I have gotten my logical reasoning and logic games scores to where I want them to be but cannot afford getting 9 reading comp questions wrong come test day.

Does anyone have a method I could use to get more consistent with this section? I assume that if I am able to get -0/1 my problem is related to my understanding but rather some other issue.

I am thinking about just reading an abundance of actual passages to get primed but do not know what else I can do :/

Core Curriculum Question

Does anyone know exactly how long the Core Curriculum should take? I realize that it is advertised as 215 hours - however it seems that a fair amount of that time consists of old PT and various section drills. I am wondering how much time the actual lessons are excluding drills and PTs and I rather not count them if someone knows it off the top of their head #help
