I had a difficult time making the jump from "sunflower oil can provide a variety of products, both industrial and consumer, at little cost to Kalotopia's already fragile environment" meaning this would benefit their general economy.

This was the reasoning that turned me off from answer choice D. Looking back, it's not really a huge leap... ugh.

What is the argument saying?

Human emotional tendencies have NOT changed

Humans now have more individual and societal choices than ever before(this statement is completely irrelevant to our argument! The test writers interjected this ‘concession’ point to make the argument convoluted and obscure our understanding!)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conclusion: Humans are unable to choose more wisely

/ETC

(/ETC → /CMW) = CMW → ETC

--------

/CMW

Answers

a) This does not have to be true, so what if humans have undergone significant changes - how would that affect their ability to make wiser decisions?

b) This is not required by the argument because we don’t know anything about whether humans are today or ever were before ‘in control of their emotions’ - the stimulus never mentions ‘control’

c) Wiser → Emotionally disposed to pay attention to lesson of history, This again is not necessary because the necessary condition in this case has been satisfied… So we cannot make any statement on the state of ‘wisdom’ within humans today.

d) (Range of emotions) this is playing on the superfluous information introduced in the stimulus and therefore has no bearing on the assumption, not less of which, the NECESSARY assumption.

e) Wiser choices → essential change taken place in human emotional dispositions.

First off, congratulations! I know this issue is a tough one but it's a good problem to have. I cannot give you a straight answer without fully understanding your finances, not asking for that. From the sounds of it though and with your credentials, you should be okay taking on the amount of debt you would incur from a top school. With that background and work ethic you will be able to pay off the loans. If this is what you really want, don't let anything get in the way of that. You've worked too hard to get here. Now is the time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Life is full of uncertainty. You wouldn't want to look back on this decision in 20 years and think to yourself..."What would it have been like if I took the scholarship and followed my dreams?". Push the limits and step outside of your comfort zone. Best of luck with whatever you so choose! If you have a paypal/google wallet account, send me a private message. I would love to make a small donation.
