in the context, it seems the correct deduction is that ignoring unpleasant realities and telling small lies is sufficient to not being sincere.
however, isn't "by requiring" a necessary condition indicator? what's necessary and what's sufficient in the context? I want to understand how to think about these phrases independently for different variations since it trips me up quite often.
