@soleluna883 I know you're looking for an answer regarding structure but I think problem this is a good example of how taking the argument at face value could simplify a 5-star question & save you time down the line.

Yes, seeing that the right AC is the contrapositive could be helpful but I personally did not see that right off the bat and I think if I tried to identify structure this question could take me like 10 minutes. Instead, continue to focus on asking "What is the conclusion?" and "How strong is this argument?"

Once we read the stim and see that it's asking for a flaw and what the editorialist fails to take into account, I would say "OK, what's a strong assumption the author makes here & therefore leads them to erroneously disregard that possibility?" Boom. The author assumes that "those responsible for passing the law must be ignorant of a great deal of history". Is that true? MUST they be ignorant just because they passed these laws that repeats patterns? No!

We keep this critique of the argument in mind when evaluating the ACs and can more clearly see that E is correct because they could completely understand history (not ignorant) and still choose to repeat its patterns.

As you get more comfortable with this exam, try not to lost in structure before understanding what the author is actually claiming.
