improvement now down turn. need help

I wanted to ask the forum I started with a 151 cold LSAT in March. Have practice 3 hours a day every day since then drilling and learning games and since then have only achieved a 159 twice and blind 165. My test is in july and I am nervous I am going to do badly as I have switched to doing two tests a week and went from a 159 to a 152 with a 159 blind score. Has my ability gone down, am I practicing too much, I am lost and not sure what the solution is? (My target score is 165+) I get this may not be possible in July, but am taking it as i have the option to cancel it if it is a bad score.

LSAC question

Hi all,

Do transcripts live forever on LSAC or do I have to re-submit every cycle i apply? Also, do recs carry over or must be submitted every year? i was going to apply, but decided to take a gap year.

This in my opinion is the rote memorization part of the LSAT. look and study flaws from an LSAT book then the similarities will pop out at you. This skill is first knowledge and then practice. Also, harder flaw questions will be harder to see the flaw. If you need any clarifications feel free to reach out

Does anyone think scores will be released earlier than June 5th?

personal statement editing

Hi all,

I was curious if anyone had experience with editing services for their personal statements? I am starting to finish mine and was curious if they are worth the money and which ones people have had good experiences with?

Hello all I was wondering if there is a list out for the opening date of law school applications. I know some open in august and others in September but was curious if there is a resource with it clearly marked out so that I could organize my application cycle.

Waitlist question BC & GW

Dear All,

Hope quarantine finds you all well! I have posted in the past I just graduated with a 3.75 from a top 30 undergrad and have experience with tribal nations and international criminal law. My weakness is a 156 LSAT which i am hopefully changing in april, I have been testing consistently in the 162-5 range. Once I got the 156 I was sure no law school would want me but my friend made me apply to 3. My results so far is waitlists from both GW and BC. I am curious how hard it is to go off these schools waitlists'? Also I am curious if I should just take a gap year and try again with a fresh batch of schools?

apply or gap year?

Hi all,

I am a senior graduating a semester early with a 3.75 UGPA from a top-30 undergrad and have very strong soft factors (varsity athlete, work with indigenous people, and worked with the ICC.) I was averaging 163 on PT's but got a dismal 156 on the November Test. I am curious if I should bother applying and hoping for the best or to just do a gap year and change my study methods? My goal is top 20. Currently planning on ED WASHU.

Strange Results

As I take more LSATs still under 10 preps tests I am noticing I am getting best sections but can never string together a great whole test. Is there any advice on the best ways to string together whole tests because when I train individual sections I can get down to -2/-4 rather easily. Is it smart to string together multiple sections when I practice between doing whole pretests? Also is it worth using newer logic games than training with old ones?

any suggestions for law schools

Hi all,

I recently finished my undergraduate career with a 3.75 GPA from a T30 institution and have been studying the LSAT with consistent scores between 162-5. At my undergraduate institution I was a record holder and captain of an NCAA athletic team, on the student union, and had a leadership role on my campus's environmental relations board. In addition to my extracurriculars I interned for a Native American tribe's legal counsel specifically working on advocacy of policy. In addition to my internship work I studied in The Hague and studied international law with my university teamed with Leiden. I am currently planning on taking a gap year. My question is with my current statistics does anyone have any suggestions of law schools with good international and Indian law departments or with a mission statement which would understand my niche in legal experiences?

Thanks all!

@ I agree with @. With your training work on skills. do single sections, go light and do 8 of each sections some days. Vary your training. I would tell you to periodize your training if you know about athletics, if not do a PT or endurance day, then do a timing day a timed section then some problems from other sections, after that a skills day working only on problem types you are weak on and try to gain more knowledge. Make sure to always have an off day.

what do i do

i am less than two weeks away from my test and i am declining in score. I went from 162, 163, 162, 166, 163(tests in the 60's), and now 158(PT 86). I am starting to see maybe my work was a waste of time

@ I am taking the test on May 18th DO NOT DO the PT everyday that strategy will just wear you down. I took my last PT before the test and got a 168. I am happy with said score and going to go over the test today and work skills and timing until the exam. Throughout college I swam at the collegiate level and coached under the head coaches of Harvard and Yale as a side job. This test is like a championship meet. You do not do the hardest workouts of your life the week before the big meet just like you do not study like mad before the exam. That is not strategic as you will just be burnt out and tired for the test, in addition that shows insecurity in your training. Right now with your best score you know your training works, now just taper down and get mentally ready. DO NOT stress, DO NOT wear yourself down unnecessarily, and BE CONFIDENT.

waitlist decision

Dear all,

I am curious if any of you fellow users are students of or hav opinions about my waitlists to further shed light on my final decision if admitted to any of the three schools I have been waitlisted to. The schools are GW, BC, and Vanderbilt. I have an interest in international and comparative law. Any input would be helpful!

Thank you all!!

The tests are not the same so some will be better than others. You have to see how you are overall improving in a section like if in 2 tests you are getting -5's in games instead of -9's. My diagnostic was 151, my high PT was 168. I was stuck in the high 150's for a long time until I worked RC and LR and got up to 163 a ton of times. The uptick was extra RC work. It all takes time. If you have more questions PM me.

regressing two weeks for exam

Hi all,

I have been taking two tests a week since August and have had a consistent score increase to a peak at 166 last week. Lately I have been nailing drilling assignments but my scores in practice tests as of late have nose dived back to 160's. I take a day off a week and do not know why my results are going downward this close to the exam. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't think about it. That happened to me destroyed my confidence so badly i sucked on the test. I had to go and retake.

One bad score doesn't define you. Think of the real thing as just another practice test.

Should I flex

Hi all,

I was originally in the April test and am still eligible for the flex. I will be retaking the lsat and have had horror stories with test centers and I have issues with the back half of the test. Should I request the flex as i can control test spot and it is a sprint? I see the downsides as a tough curve and me studying for a curtailed test. Is it worth it? logic games is my strength at -2-5 and LR -4-6 and RC is most wild as -3-7.

Last Semester Transcripts

Dear 7 sage community,

I am a last semester senior graduating at the end of this semester. Currently I am going to purchase the CAS but if I send in my transcripts now they will be devoid of my last semester of grades which will bring up my UGPA a bit. Do I wait until the end of the semester or does LSAC update these stats?

The only thing is the schools have to approve such deferment. Schools will not allow the whole class to defer it is simply bad for business and these schools are businesses.

Good job! The one thing i worry about is using such old tests you will not have practice with the comparative passages which are very common on the new tests, but otherwise again NICE!

its best to start with simple and relative ordering as those are the most straight forward. Then go to Grouping starting with distribution then to in/out then go to grid games as those are becoming more common. Grids are not hard per se but take a lot of time and it takes practice to get fast due to the large amount of info in a grid game.

I BR ed and I also just reviewed my advice is early in your studying BR but once you have taken 20+ tests just review it saves time and allows you to get back to working on your weak points quicker. BR is a good way to internalize the learning but after 20+ tests you kind of know what is going on and benefit more from specific practice of your weaknesses than redoing then going over every question you were not sure about because during test day you will be unsure and its best to get used to the feeling of not being certain with an answer.

My best advice is 1. learn LR until you are getting -2 or less best and most reliable section never changes THAT much from test to test. 2. learn flaw, strengthen/weaken, Suff and nec assumption questions as those are the most common but remember there is no such thing as low yield there could be 4 paradox questions you never know as these LR sections have become themed in recent years with low yield topics. 3. DO NOT NEGLECT RC!. I cannot stress that enough my first take i got destroyed by RC because I thought that I read daily so why focus on reading. LSAT reading is harder than daily reading and requires practice to get it all done in the 35 minute window. That is my advice I have taken the exam and am awaiting a score but my pretest score was upper 160's from a 152 diagnostic so these tidbits have worked for me at least

Train for what you're doing. If its three sections do three. There is no point in overtraining, like why train a weekly marathon if you're going to race a 5k.

So what i noticed with the newer tests is 1. the answers are less obvious they tend to be more subtle and 2. they lock into one question type more in a section. What i mean by that is that one test my give you 5-6 of a type and the 60's tend to give more variety. this has been my experience but personally i do better with the newer tests for some reason.
