Please, begging for help!

7Sagers:

I need some serious H-E-L-P. here's the details:

1. Took June 2015 LSAT. Canceled the score, signed up for 7sage, finished it in late august.

2. Took a Bluepring course last spring. didnt do A SINGLE darn thing for me.

3. been PrepTesting all month. none of my PT's go over 153/154. I Blind Review all of them, very closely.

4. I've been signed up for this saturday's exam, 10/3. Obviously, there is no point of me taking it.

5. I WILL NOT apply to law school with a score lower than 164. I will not go to law school at Sticker Price. no way.

6. I can't take time off working anymore. used up all my savings sitting at home studying. Spent my last 400$ on 7Sage's Premium Course in order to get the video explanations for PTs 62-71.

7. Forgot to mention: All the drills iv'e done in 7sage's course, timed, have been PERFECT. not a single question wrong.

8. Last PT (64)- 153. Section 1 (LR)- 15/25. Section 2 (LG) 16/23. Section 3 (LR) 18/26. Section 4 (RC)- 13/27. This was by far the hardest RC i have EVER encountered.

please help this poor soul out. I am TIRED of dealing with this. I am mentally exhausted. I am physically exhausted. The LSAT has taken a toll on my life in such a way that i have NEVER experienced before.

Last Hurrah... Got Milk/Insight?

Quick Breakdown: - Taking the LSAT next Saturday, Dec. 5th.

A. BIGGEST ISSUE i am having- Reading Comprehension: -as my RC scores on PT's high-50's & low-60's has improved, my Reading Comprehension section on PT's mid60's to early 70's has significantly dropped. I'm aware the RC got a little tougher, as it has been widely supported on this forum by most test takers. STUCK IN A SERIOUS PICKLE. Here is it

-I've tried 7sage's 'memory retention method' - didnt do much for me. Although I have attempted roughly 40 passages with this, and it has DEFINITELY improved my memory retention, it hasn't given me that edge I need to go -10 or -9

-I've tried the blueprint/testmasters method (tag the heck out of the passage.. box this, circle that, underline this, etc)- takes WAY too long and i get nothing done. I get way too caught up tagging up the passage that the reasoning structure and the change in directions completely blow passed me. It works for others, but it is simply not for me.

-I've tried a private tutor's method: Attempt only 2 or 3 Passages, go for accuracy, and hopefully you'll be -10 minimum -- I got the accuracy, however it is mathematically IMPOSSIBLE to hit a 160 while attempting only 2 or 3 passages. -What i've been trying to do: Read for reasoning structure, bracket each paragraph, and write a note if I see a main Point, big statement from the author, Conclusion, or hypothesis + if there's a hypothesis that is offered in support/against the first one.

*** Any insight towards anything will be much appreciated ***

B. The cute little twist in the LG section on the recent PT's changed my score from 159/160 to 156. (instead of going -3/-4 im at -7 [on average]. PT's: 67,68,69,70. --Any insight on how to master the cute little twists? i've done every games over until i have perfect them all; attempted each one until i went -0 for each game in under 8:30min.

Thus far, Most of the insight received on 7sage has been AMAZING. lets keep it going.

(Realistic) TARGET SCORE - 160.

breakdown of last PT -

Section1(LR)- -9

Section2(RC)- -14*** :'(

Section3(LG)- -6

Section4(LR2)- -7

PT70+ and Logic Games

Hi all:

I've noticed my LG score change from -3/-4 to -7 (on average) for PT's 67, 68, 70. Now, I know the more recent PT's are a tad different (some games have a cute little twist in them); nonetheless, this increase in incorrect answers just took me from a 159/160 to a 156 :(

The issue presented is that I DO NOT want to touch the games on the remaining PT's (71-75), Since i am taking those this week-

I've done the fool-proof method to perfect the questions missed on the games attempted in PT's 67-70, but i am looking for a better way to secure me mastering those 'cute little twists' the games got me on.

Any insight?

Taking the December LSAT.

Coming to a realization.... need validation.

Hi All:

I've come to a realization that I am just simply not ready for the June LSAT. I'm still going to try my best, walk in there, and see what im going up against (given the more recent tests are WAY harder than the older PT's iv'e been taking), and retake in October.

After going through a Blueprint Prep Course, about 12 tutoring sessions, and drilling and taking multiple PT's, Iv'e come to the conclusion that iv'e been studying completely wrong... I just took PT62 and got a 151. My diagnostic, at the beginning of the blueprint course, was at 133 (never been exposed to any type of formal/symbolic logic). Since my cumulative LSAC GPA is pretty low (did poorly in undergrad, retook close to 40% of those classes and Aced them; unfortunately, LSAC doesn't count retakes), my aim for a 165+ is the only thing that is going to keep my dreams alive of going to school's in the T20's. When i saw that 151 for PT62, After studying for so long, and not getting the score increase iv'e been wanting, it was a rough moment to say the least... I walked outside of the library, washed my face with cold water, and just accepted the fact that a miracle is not going to happen in 14 days. It's just not. I am leaving on a month-long trip to southeast asia with my girlfriend that is going away to medical school (once we get back, july 10) a day after the June 2015 LSAT.

I need to make sure that first off, my saying "that's it, im done" it relative to my current standing point, and I am not just giving up for nothing. Second, I have 3 full months of studying when I get back, and I'm considering this the last push of all; after rescheduling the Feb 2015 LSAT, Deciding to sit out this cycle was really heartbreaking for my girlfriend... we both wanted to start our postgrad school at the same time, so she can start doing her rotations where ever I'll be in Law School. Now, due to sitting out + her Med School schedule, we'll be living apart for another extra year. it really sucks.

My questions are:

1. I'm planning on hitting the ground RUNNING when i get back; literally. Next day, I'll be in full-blown study mode. I've been hearing nothing but good things about 7Sage and the LSAT Trainer. I'm planning on getting both, although i've been using 7Sage's free account and i have been following the Fool-Proof method for the LG, the Memory-Retainment for RC. What are your thoughts everyone?

2. I need some SERIOUS advice, because honestly, my tutor was a sham; He praised himself and promised the world, and instead, we did several problems per session, and I felt like he was intentionally stretching out the time so he can bill more hours (he wanted 100$/hr, i got him down to 75$. The BIGGEST financial mistake iv'e made, combined with Blueprint's 1500$ bomb). I need someone to give it to me rough, nasty, and as real as possible; I know there are MANY of you on 7Sage that know what you are doing... and I need that input. I'll give you any information you need, just ask by replying here. What do i do for the 3 months that i get back? where do i begin? do i start over completely? do i just nitpick at where i completely suck? let me give you a small breakdown by section so you understand where i'm standing...

A. LG - horrible. I obviously haven't done enough to master it, I'm still getting between -5 & -13 per sections.

B. RC- i've tried everything; from tagging the passage according to Blueprint/Testmasters strategy, to reading just the GIST (General Idea, Structure, Tone) and then referring back, to trying 7Sage's memory-method. When I Drill the sections, i'm not bad... i'll go -6 & -8. but when i PT them, i just don't have enough time to get to all the passages, and I literally end up guessing on a whole one.

C. LR- oh my lord.. where do I begin? i went from drilling between 50-200 questions of every question type, learning the strategies, but for some reason.. when its PT time, i'm just not there. **I even tried going for the accuracy strategy (spending more time on each question, but obviously not getting to all of them) because I realized even then, I simply wasn't getting to all of them.. but nooooooooo, still no good. I even tried switching up the order of the questions (doing 1-12, then 20-25, then 13-19).. AND YES, IV'E BEEN BLIND REVIEWING ALL MY PT'S. it usually goes up by about 10-12 pts.

3. I took JYPING's (7Sage Founder) advice on NOT to burn through the PT's, so i stopped at 62. NO more PT's! How do I counter that? What do I replace PT's (since i'll obviously need to take more than 10 PT's for October)... Do I just reuse the ones I took?

4. I feel completely burnt out at the moment, but for obvious guilt reasons I feel like I should keep going.. I literally eat, sleep, dream, feel LSAT; That's how its been since December!!

If any of you can help by providing insight based on experience, that would be really helpful. Honestly, I just got to the point where I am so mentally broken and disappointed in myself due to the inadequate progress that I really don't even know what to say to myself anymore.

Thanks everyone, I R-E-A-L-L-Y appreciate it.

How to Review/Blind Review Reading Comprehension

Hello All!

Quick question for those who know:

How in the world do you Blind Review reading comprehension??

1. I do the memory method, however at this point, i am taking practice tests, and i have no clue on how to Blind Review, or Review in general, the reading comprehension section

2. If anyone can, PLEASE give me some detailed insight.

-After taking your PT and Blind Reviewing the LR section (and of course, doing the fool-proof method on Logic Games that you did not breeze right through), how do you Review/Blind Review the RC passages? How do you better yourself? How can you increase the amount of control you have over the passage?

-After taking your PT and Reviewing/Blind Reviewing all other sections, (and of course, putting the memory method ASIDE, since its physically impossible to do the memory method after you've already taken the PT), how can you increase the level of comprehension you have within the passage? I.E. - some passages i am able to completely master after reading them untimed, and for others i will literally sit there for a good 20-30 minutes still saying "DFJDHVDKJFDNFFDFFD??????"

THANKS ALL!! and for everyone else taking the 10/3 LSAT, GOOD LUCK!

@.cox - thank you SO MUCH for the care and attention you're devoting. really nice of you.

@.hopkins and i had a wonderful phone conversation about a week ago.. she really helped me get my stability back after freaking out.

-If i take a PT on monday, i will be BR'ing it on tuesday.

-clean copy BR: for clarification purposes ONLY, could you please explain the clean copy BR process? as simple as possible... I'd appreciate it!

I know 3-4 PT's a week is pushing it... however, would you recommend anything else? I know my mind needs to rest, but with 16 days left, its kinda hard to!

(insert inspirational/motivational/rocky 'eye of the tiger' kinda quote so mr. Tom wakes up tomorrow, cracks open 4 raw eggs, and looks at PT68 right in the eye and tells him 'this clean-copy BR sure helped')

Hi! thanks for the tips!

- I finished 7sage premium curriculum.

- I haven't drilled in 2 weeks, i've been PTing since (currently at PT 67)

-I finished reading the LSAT Trainer, and i agree... the best thing i took from it was to look for the answer choices that are "clearly wrong" prior to looking at the answer choice that is "the best available answer".

-I BR every PT. but clean copy? first time i've heard that. what does that mean? as in i BR the same PT but a fresh copy, with no previous answers? I will try that, but holy moly... does that sound time-consuming.

-I am taking a PT every other day, and BR'ing the days im not. at some point next week, im going to most likely crank it up to a PT every day.

Trying out something new... thoughts?

Hello All:

Quick preface:

1. I am taking the Dec. 2015 LSAT.

2. I started at 132

3. average PT score is 152/154

4. Target Score: ANYTHING over 160. Must apply this cycle for a reason in which i can't disclose (too personal), and although i wish it was, it is by no means flexible (i'll give ya a small hint... Uncle Sam isn't too happy with the delayed student visa).

5. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: "The online tutor that gave me this RC advice was NOT @nicole.hopkins . His name is D*****

I was on a Skype tutoring session earlier this week with a tutor i met from Reddit, his name is D****, and the tutor advised me to slow down and attempt less questions, and work on accuracy... i'm still trying to find my sweet spot.

On the RC section, instead of attempting all 4 passages, I only attempted 2 and worked on accuracy. It felt kind of weird, but based on the last 2 PT's iv'e taken and employed this strategy, It looks good so far.. only missed 2 on this PT (PT67)

On the LG section, I didn't slow down.. you either know it or you don't. i came out -4 because they were all time sinks.

On both LR sections, i attempted as many as i could, but slowed down a bit and tried to internalize every single word i read. Again, it feels a little weird not gunning for the whole section, but i did as many as i could, as fast as i could, just 20 miles-per hour slower, also making sure I was hitting at the minimum 17

Here's the breakdown:

Section 1 (RC) - 13/27 (-14). Did the first 2 passages only. got -2 on all questions attempted. the rest were guesses, and i only got 1 guess right.

Section 2 (LR1) - 11/25 (-14)- Guessed 6 (-6), -8 for questions attempted. -8 = -2 Sufficient assumption, -1weaken, -2flaw, -1 Disagree (crazy one!), -1 Main Conc. , -1 Most strongly supported.

**all questions skipped were in the end except for #17 (parallel)

Section 3 (LG) - 18/22 (-4) 2 questions were those "rule substitute" prompt (takes too long, guessed and moved on) and the other 2 were diagram errors. will fix that.

Section 4 (LR2)- 16/26 (-10) -6 were guesses and -4 were incorrect ones: -1 Main Conc., -2 Resolve, -1 Sufficient Assumption.

by the way... my BR's are still not going over 160. What is REALLY weird is that when i drill sections or drill sets, i go between -4 and -8, which is what i wish i was.

Thank you for taking the time to help a fellow 7sager out.

for all taking the Dec LSAT, I'd wish you good luck... BUT WE DON'T NEED IT! we are going to crush it!

Hi everyone! QUICK update:

1.- First off, I'd like to thank EVERY single person that has commented on this discussion, you have all been really great (except for a selected few)

2.- To all the morons who are able to ONLY come up with negative, non-constructive, non-objective criticism- i really wish i could type what i really want you to do, but 7sage's nature, as well as its guidelines, are keeping my mouth shut. (i'll give you a hint; jump off a cliff with something in your rectum).

3. I've been taking all the advice from here, including signing up for 7sage. its been really helpful, but honestly, I just don't have the time to sit and re-do everything over from the start. i've been doing mainly the Fool-Proof Method for games (which has been helping tremendously), The Memory Retention for Reading Comp (Also, a huge help), and Watching/Reading all the explanations for the LR's. I also started doing Blind Review for every Preptest so far, and as promised to you all, I spent this past Saturday-Monday going back to fundamentals, hammering it in as much as humanly possible. I took my first PT since this change yesterday, Scored it, and Blind Reviewed it Today..

SO, I took everyone's advice, changed up the order of the LR's (did 1-12 first, then 20-25, then 13-20), Read a bit different on reading comp (Didn't TAG the passage as much, but did much more detailed reading and read several main key sentences twice), and for the Logic Games- 3 of the games had 5 questions.. first 2 games were easy, but once i looked at the 3rd game, i saw 5 questions AGAIN, i was like "what the hell? where the rest of the questions?" so i flipped to Game 4, and it was the HARDEST game I have seen in my life, with 8 questions on it. I immediately went for that one, and K-I-L-L-E-D it! (-2 on the game, but holy moly it was crazy).

RESULTS:

Initial Score: 151. Not happy about it at all. Breakdown:

Section 1/LG: -10 (Missed 4, couldn't make it to last game). Section2/LR: -12 (-8 from the questions attempted, guessed -4 and got them all wrong). Section3/LR: -10 (-6 from the questions attempted, guessed -4 and got them all wrong). Section 4/RC: -12 (Probably the hardest, most unreal Reading Comprehension Section i have EVER done)

Although I am not happy at all with the score, there is one specific thing im happy about.. THE BLIND REVIEW. Everyone, i got a 161 on the Blind Review!!!! that means i'm learning, i'm absorbing this stuff, and i'm recognizing the idiotic errors iv'e been making!!!!!!!!

Now, back to the drawing board... everyone, please continue to help me. You all have NO IDEA how big of a difference this discussion thread is making for me. KEEP GOING!!!!!!!!

big thanks to @ , @ , @ , @ , @ , @ for everything. you are all angels.

@ - I can only pray to whoever is upstairs that someday, they may have mercy on your soul. You should never be an attorney; "sorry but had to give it to you rough" is not a disclaimer for being completely out of line; You have no idea who I am, and what iv'e gone through to even be alive right now. You should be thanking people like me, I am the reason you sleep in your bed at night with no care in the world. I am the reason you have the freedom to say whatever your arrogance allows you to say. I am the reason you and your family are still walking this land. Be respectful and know your place.

How do you plan to review fundamentals? Just curious!

brna0714:

I was planning on going through each question type, find its relation to formal logic argument and structure and how it is prevailed within the argument. Drill the life out of each one and carve into my brain how each and every correct and incorrect principles are shown in the answer choices.

do you have any recommendations to review fundamentals better? I also still have all the cambridge, blueprint, powerscore, and kaplan packets with all the information.

1. I'll be revisiting fundamentals this entire weekend. Everything will be completely gone over by sunday night.

2. on monday morning, 5/11/2015 - it will be exactly 27 Days left until the June 2015 LSAT. Tell me WHAT to do, HOW to do, and WHEN to do, and it will be done.

I know my capabilities.. I am definitely invested enough in this to make it happen in 27 days. I've done things that looked much less possible, because I literally have the eye of the tiger and a chip on my shoulder.

If A-N-Y of you help me make this happen by providing experience-rooted insight, you have yourself a person that if, for any reason, you need something in Los Angeles, it is considered DONE. I am widely known for my big heart and am highly praised for keeping my word. I just cant afford paying for any more tutoring sessions, and just by looking at the 7sage basic program, i know i don't have enough time.

I think you can get through the 7Sage course in a month but it will be tough to implement any sort of drilling/section drilling/PT's into that timeframe. What exactly is your financial/living situation? Are you living at your parents' place until Oct?

Yes. Unfortunately, the June LSAT is my only option; My whole law school application packet is completely ready to go (incredible essays, stellar letters of recommendation, resume with all my internships including law offices and courthouse [over 200 hours]).

@ Okay, you may or may not like the advice I'm going to give you considering you've already dropped a substantial amount of money on prep courses but I really, really feel it's going to be the quickest way to improve your score.

IMO- You need to purchase the actual 7Sage course, the most basic one costs $179. It will totally blow you away. Not to speak badly of your tutor or Blueprint but they clearly haven't given you the foundation you need to improve your score. 7Sage has helped me and countless others (just check out the forum) improve tremendously. There is so much more to the course than just the BR, foolproof method and the memory method. I don't think you'll regret checking it out out at all.

Check out this thread if you need more convincing: http://classic.7sage.com/discussion/#/discussion/2781/stories-of-significant-score-improvement

@ Q1: When you take timed sections/drill, do you time yourself? For me, I noticed that my untimed strategies and timed strategies were totally different so it wasn't helpful for me to take untimed anything since they wouldn't translate over.

Q2: Can you walk us through your mental process when you approach a game and its questions? You could be skipping some essential pre-work prior to hitting the games that's impacting your score and time.

Q3: When you take a PT, what goes through your mind/what do you do when you get to a question you don't fully understand? Does your brain go into full on panic mode? Do you go straight to the answer choices anyways?

blah170blah:

Q1: Yes! i absolutely time myself; i started with 1:24 per question, then did 4 questions in 5:36 (5 minutes 36 seconds), and worked my way up to 35 mins per sections. My Diagramming is alright, not the greatest, but it has improved tremendously; yet, When i am doing a PT, i feel like the way im speeding through the question is obviously not the same as when im doing it untimed, and i find myself having to read it AT LEAST one more time.

Q2: when i approach a game:

1. i identify what type of game based on the stimulus- set up my gameboard, game pieces.

2. list all the rules out as clean and as simple as possible

3. check for any major deductions after i have checked all my rules

4. ask myself "where is the deductions? do i have constraint pieces/slots? are scenarios possible?"

if scenarios are possible- i attempt it based on the rule that will show me (linked option for player, blocks, constraint slots)

5. approach the questions

Q3: When i take a PT, this is no joke, exactly what goes through my mind: "FDJFHBDFDSKJFNSDFKJSDNFKJDNBSFKJSDNFSDKJFNSDKJFNDSKJFNSDKJFNSDKJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I am in such a hurry, so stressed, completely out of my comfort zone. I even did a timed section with my tutor, and he's like "Dude, what the heck is wrong with you? you looked like you were about to get a heart attack!". My brain goes in to FULL panic mode, try to diagram as fast/as best as i can, but i spend too much time looking at the stimulus like a deer in headlights, trying to wrap my mind around it. So what happens as a result? I dive head first into the answer choices! after spending so much time (Since i can tell that i spend WAY too much time between answer choices), i just circle the one i think is best (i usually get it down to 2) and move on.

my BIGGEST fear right now is not being ready for the June LSAT. my parents gave me a deadline to leave my place by end of october, so its a MUST for me to take the LSAT, use the advantage of applying early + Good LSAT score to compensate for my horrific GPA, work as much as i can so i can afford rent for about 4-6 months, and off to law school i go.

blah170blah & brna0714, thank you SO MUCH for responding.

brna0714- The breakdown per section is fairly confusing as well;

Up until recently, my biggest problem was the games- they just wouldnt register! after doing over 100 games in the past 3 months, now its narrowed down to -10/-8, mainly due to the fact that i dont have enough time to finish the 4th game.. and thats WITH 40 mins per section.

I've been doing the 7sage Fool Proof Method Logic Games, the reading comprehension memory retainment method, and the blind review. the crazy and even scary issue- i do worse on blind review that on the regular PT. I got a 152 on PT#6 I took, and when i did the blind review, it dropped to 150.

in need of help

Hello everyone, hope all is well; I am writing this post after taking a PT, (my 8th total), and i am literally heart broken.

After spending the last year pushing like iv'e never pushed before, I was able to graduate at the end of the summer while taking 25 units in the spring and another 12 units over the summer. To say the least, I finally graduated and got my bachelor's in Sociology from a CSU.

In September, I signed up for the Blueprint LSAT Prep course offered at their original location, by the original founder. working 10 hours a day (8AM-6PM), and putting MY ALL into this prep class, I reached a point where i realized that there is absolutely no possible way to take the December LSAT and score good. I simply wasn't ready; I studied every single day, 7 days a week (6 hours on a day on weekdays, 12-14 hours a day on weekends), The class FLEW by, the instructor was expecting WAY too much, and everything was a complete blur. I worked my BUTT off to save the 1,500.00$ required to pay for that class.

So i rescheduled for the February LSAT, and extended my access for another 350.00$; Realizing, AGAIN, that I am nowhere near my target score (165+) that I need in order to go to any T20+ school (my LSAC GPA is in the gutter.. horrible 2.62), I RESCHEDULED AGAIN. Another heart-breaking moment for me and everyone else around me. At this point, my parents (my father, a VERY hard to please person, works for the department in the US Gov.. can't say which) were completely disgusted with this delay, I was (and still am!) impatiently waiting to start law school and make my dream come true; I so upset at myself that I did not know what to do.

So, what did i do? I quit my 65,000$+/year job, put all my savings towards my bills, hired a private tutor that costs an arm and a leg, buckled down, and made this my top priority for the past 4 months. I have been studying ALMOST EVERY single day, taking 1 or 2 days off a week, and meeting with the tutor at least once a week. while studying, my tutor gave me a study schedule:

by the end of April- We will be completely done with all the material, and we will start doing Practice Tests. 2 weeks before doing practice tests, I started drilling entire sections. i was getting -6/-8 on each section when i was drilling by question or by section; suddenly, when i started PT'ing, my scores are in the gutter.

Today, at of my 8th PT, i have not been able to score higher than a 153. i am completely devastated by the lack of progress made. I've been blind reviewing every single test, I have been going over every single question until I could verbally tell you the question with one breath of air.

Everyone, I seriously do not know what to do anymore. i cannot postpone this exam further. June is my date! My games are not great at all, my LR foundation is solid as heck, I can easily identify assumptions/flaws, but for some reason that is beyond me i cannot break past a 151!

Warm-Up on test day?

Should you?

and if so, What would you do?

to everyone tomorrow... We have been busting our butts off studying for this. Blood, sweat, and beers (i mean, tears) have gone into this exam (13 months now, for me).

Release the inner monster in you.

I got my game-face, war-gear, shotgun loaded with Flaw exposers, ammunition full of conditionals transitions, A full-body armour composed of 27 Layers of confused-passage blockers, 4 dynamite sticks packed with Game-destroyers,

and most importantly...

A #2 PENCIL WITH THE NUMBERS 170 WRITTEN ALL OVER THAT MOTHER******.

LETS GO. LETS GET IT. YOU ARE READY.

Are you sure?
