@ Good question. I'm not 100% sure (it was a while back), but I think there was an analog clock hanging at the front of the room. I would highly recommend bringing an analog watch with a rotating bezel though - I bought one off the recommendation of some thread on here and it worked great. If you have time, of course practice with it as well. Good luck! Can't say enough good things about this test center in general - it was ideal in most ways.

(Washington DC) Free LSAT prep materials

Hey everyone,

I'm done with the LSAT and moving to a new place at the end of the week. I have a bunch of unused or very lightly used (some penciled notes, or maybe a couple of sections done) LSAT prep materials that I'd prefer to pass on to another 7Sager who can use them, rather than just throw away.

If you live in the Washington DC area and are interested, and able to pick these up by the end of the week, let me know.

Materials included:

  • LSAT Trainer
  • Clean copies of LSAT 68, 69, 70, 73, 79
  • Binder full of logic games for fool-proofing
  • some other assorted prep tests where I've only done one section
  • Also, my understanding that it would be completely ethical to just give these away (I am NOT selling them). But if that's not the case, I'd appreciate if someone would flag this for me.

    Thanks!

I did 16 PTs post CC and scored a 170. My diagnostic was a 157, and my avg score before test day was a 164. If I could go back and do it all over, I would take more PTs (20+) - I definitely felt like I was on a plateau in the mid 160s. I only scored a 170 on one of my PTs and had a good test day.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm applying to many (and a wide-range) of schools.

Thank you 7 sage! (13 point increase)

I just want to say a huge thanks to JY, Dillon, and everyone in the 7Sage community and share my story.

When I started studying for the LSAT at the end of June, I'd been out of school for six years and just a couple of weeks out of the end of a serious relationship. The entire prospect of applying for law school (and studying for the LSAT) was really daunting and intimidating.

I signed up for the Ultimate course with the intention of studying pretty much full time (ended up doing some odd jobs for a couple of months and doing some stuff on the side when I wasn't studying) to take the exam in September. As September approached I wasn't where I wanted to be, and after consulting with folks on these forums, decided to wait until December. I did a total of 16 timed PTs with BR (not including my diagnostic, which was a 157). By test day my average was a 164, with a high score of 170 (only once). I also watched many of the webinars.

I took a PT the Monday before test day and scored a 160 (one of my lowest). I took the rest of the week off, kind of resigned to not being able to reach my goal of 170, but did the best I could to get myself in a good head space before Test Day.

On test day things felt really good - better than any of the PTs I'd taken over the previous months. I was just in a great place mentally and came away feeling good about the whole thing.

Tonight I got my score back and scored a 170! I'm so happy and relieved to be done with this test.

For anyone who is intimidated at any point in this process, don't give in or let your discouragement last long - you can do it! Work your way through the curriculum, take your PTs under timed conditions, BR honestly so you're learning from each take, fool proof the games to the best of your ability, and turn to this community frequently as you assess what's working for you and what isn't. If there's anything I can do to help others down this path, don't hesitate to ask!

I also want to especially thank @Cant_Get_Right, @montaha.rizeq and @Alex_Divine for being so active and positive on these message boards while I was going through this.

Yeah I'm wondering about this too. I did register for February already, but I felt like my Dec. 3 take went really well. I feel like I'm unlikely to do much better in February, and haven't been studying over the past couple of weeks.

Co-sign! It's a delightful movie, especially for big fans of the original trilogy. @ while The Force Awakens felt like a (fun) re-hash of previous movies, Rogue One pays homage to the original movies but the plot is fresh and different.

I used the Android app a good amount over the past few months and have not had this specific problem. Sometimes the app would start a section and then immediately end it (playing the "put your pencils down..." part immediately after "begin"), but that was easy enough to fix (I just pressed the button to start the section again).

Would you take the test here again?

Yes! In fact I have registered for the Feb 2017 exam at the same location. I can't really imagine a more perfect LSAT test location (maybe something that's closer to me?). I had a good experience here on test day.

    Proctors:

They were friendly, fair, and mostly competent. The main proctor in my room did forget to do a 5-minute warning on the first section, but I have no reason to believe this would be an issue in the future.

    Facilities:

The campus and the building looked brand new. Everything was comfortable. The bathrooms were located directly outside our classroom, which made things less confusing during the break.

    What kind of room:

Lecture-type class room, with rows of long tables. It was very well lit with natural light filtering in through the windows.

    How many in the room:

I think there were about 50-60 test takers in my room.

    Desks:

Long desks rather than individual desks, which allowed for plenty of space. Chairs were very comfortable and their height was easily adjustable.

    Left-handed accommodation:

I can't speak to this, but given what the desks looked like I think it was probably good?

    Noise levels:

No problem here - it was quiet, with no noticeable outside noise. One test taker had a cough.

    Parking:

I didn't drive to the site so can't speak to this.

Time elapsed from arrival to test:

We started the test at about 9:30am. I arrived a little before 8am, and check-in began at 8:30am.

Thanks for kicking off this thread. I'm also thinking of re-taking in February. I was originally going to take in September of this year, then postponed to take it this past weekend. My goal was to break 170, but after 15 PTs I was stuck in 165 as my recent average.

I decided to take on Saturday because I'm committed to applying this cycle. I felt good about how things went, but I registered today for the Feb test just in case. I'm planning to take this week off, then jump back into prep, focusing on sections that gave me the most trouble and taking 1 PT/week. I feel like I can definitely get better at LG and RC (both avg. -6/section).

I'm going to get my application ready for when the December score comes out, then decide whether to continue studying and take in February. I think you can cancel Feb registration and get a full refund after the December score comes out.

    1. Your three-sentence biography: I've spent the six years since graduating from college working in Democratic politics, on campaigns and in the House and Senate (most recently on Bernie's presidential campaign). I'm currently working on surveillance reform with a think thank.

2.Your biggest worry about your application. My undergraduate GPA is really low: 3.09 as a history major at Yale. I'm taking the LSAT on Dec. 3, but it doesn't look like I'll break 170 like I'd wanted to (current avg. is 165).

    3. Two ideas for your personal statement:

    a. How my growing concerns about surveillance reform helped me decide to stop working in electoral politics and go to law school.

    b. How my thoughts on the police have changed, through my personal experiences (centered around an incident where I observed and recorded police misconduct).

    4. Did you attend last time? Yes, but you didn't get to me.

I'm in a similar boat: taking PTs right now, currently working my way through some of the 60s and planning to take all of the 70s before test day. Thank you @ for that advice.

I've been taking about 2 PTS a week (occasionally 3). At what point before Test Day should I stop taking PTs? A week before?

Also, are there certain PTs (in addition to 79) that I should be sure to do?

    1. Your three-sentence biography: I graduated from Yale in 2010 and have spent the 6 years since working in Democratic politics, on campaigns and in the House and Senate. I'm currently working on surveillance reform as a fellow with a think thank and doing some contract campaign work. I'm Asian-American (Indian).

2.Your biggest worry about your application. My undergraduate GPA is really low (3.09) and I'm not sure if I have any academic references worth including. I'm taking the LSAT in December and am aiming to score 170+, but do not know what schools would be realistic with such a weak undergrad record.

    3. Two ideas for your personal statement:

    a. How my thoughts on the police have changed over the years, through my personal experiences with them.

    b. Why I decided to stop working in electoral politics and go to law school through my changing thoughts on what's necessary to create political change (in particular surveillance reform).

    4. Did you attend last time? No.

Do you just review the LR sections (not RC, LG)? How long do these usually run? Looking forward to joining tomorrow! Will be my first one

When I started out I'd just study on a table at home, but I got tired of it. Now I mostly go to the local library and occasionally coffee shops nearby - I find it helps to get out of the house. Try a couple of things out and see what works best for you!
