The December ones came out 2 weeks early!!! So, it think it will be this week. My stomach is in knots and I'm going stir crazy due to all of these looming deadlines.

Hopefully scholarship, loans, and I plan to work as long as I can, if possible. I am trying to pay off my vehicle now and some other debts (home equity loans, credit cards, etc.). Also, may sell my house and rent for a few years if I have to move. My kid is heading to college next Fall too, so I'm throwing that in my PS somewhere and praying for mercy! Prayer!

Just initiate contact and see what happens. I had to reach out to my professor from 1999 a few weeks ago. I sent an email with my resume attached and made the request. I offered to meet for coffee to have a face to face discussion and catch up. She wrote back by the end of the day (remembered me as her research assistant and asked what spurred my interest in law school. I responded and she submitted less than a week later and sent me a copy. Worse case scenario ask your employer.

I think if you choose to write one it should deb short and sweet. Keep it succinct and only state what is necessary (a la Paul's summary).

Dec LSAT...Still struggling with LG

Hi Sagers,

I took the Sept LSAT...bombed it. I've been taking the 7Sage prep course since October. RC is my strongest area, then LR. LG is my weakest, like brain shuts down just trying to figure out which set up is needed.

There is also still room for improvement with LR. Not sure if my time will be best spent focusing on LG from scratch or strengthening LR this week. I feel like February is inevitable, but still want to give my best effort.

Any advice?

Listen to your body and rest when you need to. However, this is just the start of the journey. You may come to a point where you have to make some tough decisions regarding what can be sacrificed during the next 3 years. If you can take more time off from work take it...if the dishes need to sit in the sink a little longer...so be it. I absolutely empathize with you, I'm going on my 3rd take in 5 months. My first score made me question myself, the second was a huge jump, but still marginal. So, I want to to give it one more round (this cycle). Try not to box yourself in...you have forever to make this happen. 170s are hard to come by, but it's possible with hard work. This I do believe. However, don't let forums convince you that you need a 170 or even a 160 to get into a good law school...URM or no URM. There at people in top 25 and 30 schools with 155ish scores (not sure what their GPAs are, but they are in there). I don't say this to have you lower your standards, but I do encourage ypu to not beat yourself up. I personally feel that 7sage has the best curriculum out there, but that's not to say every strategy will work for everyone. There's a method to the LSAT madness, only you can figure out how your brain will make sense of it and it may not be a cookie cutter method. Keep pushing, I'm sure you've overcome harder. You can do it!

If you are in a library, there is no need to generate background noise. Just sit in a busier section of the library and enjoy the naturally generated annoying background noise.

Unfortunately the quiet section of my university library is already loud! That's it's own discussion though.

I don't see a problem with using any word that captures what you intend to convey. Rather, I think an appropriate question to ask yourself might be: why am I writing about rigmarole in my personal statement? Is this pertinent?

Uh yeah my story about being discriminated against due to being an immigrant and having to repeatedly deal with the same bs was important to my story.

@ I agree. I made a lot of word choice edits to the final draft of my PS to make it sound "smarter" but ended up deleting most of the edits and stuck with what I originally wrote. It was starting to lose the human element and sounded inorganic. I've stopped nitpicking at it.

You have a good strategy. Stay focused this summer, you can do it! Thanks for the luck, I have two admissions so far, just waiting on everything so I can make an informed decision. Good luck to you as well.

Don't do it. I took Feb and scores are out in March. Now I'm in a situation where deposits are due for my safety schools, but I don't have decisions from schools I applied to after the March retake. Schools are hosting admitted student events and I'm still waiting because I retook for a higher score. October should be the latest.

Hello 7sagers!

So I had planned to do the November LSAT, but now I am thinking of doing the January one. I have been studying since December. So doing the November test would actually put me right there at the advised one year mark but something tells me I might need that extra bit of time. So now I'm just wondering in terms of getting admitted, how disadvantaged I'd be to do the Jan LSAT? I'm really shooting for a 170, so if I did get that, am I right to assume I wouldnt be that disadvantaged even though I'd be applying pretty late in the cycle?

Thanks guys,

L

Yea def not taking January now. I'm going to try really hard to shoot for September but I feel like November I'll be a lot more confident. Sorry to hear about that, good luck moving on though.

I turned 40 last month :) Been working since 1998 and am currently in a management position with a top medical insurer. Widowed for the past 8 years and my kid is heading to college in August and so am I. Completed grad school for an MS about 15 years ago, but am ready for a new challenge.

It's 4am and I'm on this site seeking comfort...tells you how bad off I am. I regret taking the Feb test and having to wait. Not only do I need to know where I'm going, my kid's going to college, and I need to sell my house and move by August...and of the schools I've been accepted to a deposit is due April 2 and the other has admitted students day next month. I plan to work as long as possible, the debt is freaking me out and making me second guess everything. I do not want a $1400 a month loan repayment plan. Still waiting on like 8 decisions. :(

Schools report on the number of applicants vs the number of admissions. So, having 100 applicants even if 60% were subpar and only accepting 15 or 20 looks enticing. Waiving the fee helps build that number. I'm sure the LSAC credentialing service isn't bothered either since they still get their $35 a pop.

If you have to ask you're already second guessing yourself...keep it simple and organic.

That Greek play question was a total burnout for me. I'm sure when I see the answer I'll be able to rationalize it...but I literally sat there thinking...what dumbass made this one up?! ;(

To piggyback @ the hook needs to come first, but it can also be meaningful, touching, and engaging. It doesn't have to be funny but it should evoke some sort of positive emotion such as laughter, empathy, or joy. No quotes at all. Be organic and genuine...remember you will be submitting against those who may have had some real (not so funny) struggles (i.e. LSAT cancellations due to hurricanes, rewriting PS multiple times because laptop was damaged in floods) and you want to be competitive there. Doesn't have to be dramatic, but it should be "personal" and real.

Doesn't make sense to do in my opinion. Download the 7Sage app and take time PTs or LR sections using Proctor mode. You can add white noise and distractions via the app on a scale of 1-10. It includes yawns, coughs, sneezes, erasing sounds, etc. on a loop. Still not the same as test day conditions, but it helps.

4 point increase from December and 15 point increase from September. Not the best, but good enough.

If you can schedule a phone call and/or meet in person, that can help to reestablish communication. It's totally fine that a few years have gone by.

Yep, good suggestion. I have been out of undergrad and received a glowing recommendation letter from a former professor from 20 years ago. Were you in any academic clubs or a research assistant? Things like that help you "stick" in people's minds a bit more. Worse case scenario find a supervisor or volunteer coordinator or colleague that can speak to your strengths. No bad LORs.

@ LSAC is no longer honoring Feb cancellations. I called 2 weeks ago to ask and was told theytest scores will be in the day before the Feb deadline so people will still have time to register. I asked about centers filling up given a 24 registration period...didn't matter. If you've already registered they will likely honor still, but I believe they removed that memo from the site now.

@ I share your sentiment this test felt oddly easier than any previous or practice live test I've taken. I had loads of time after one LR section and was sitting there waiting for her to call 5 mins like...this never happens to me. I'll always putting B's at the end. So, either it was a great success or epic failure...that whole robbery, man, woman, load noise game was a wash for me. @ is you did that you'd be the LSAT G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time)!I am obsessing over email and feeling nauseous every time I pick up my phone and press a button. Don't want to see the score until I am mentally prepared. Sigh...
