Can someone explain the advantages of being a URM?

Any one know if Central Americans, specifically Nicaraguans, are considered URM's? And if so, what role does it play in the application process/ admission probability?

Yes, you are Latino and Hispanic. Being such may give you a boost in admissions, but I wouldn't bank on it to make you a shoe-in for any school.
