Differences between "yet" and "although" - PT 50 S4 Q25

Hey guys,

I'm having a bit of a hard time understanding how "yet" functions in this MP question.

I guess my question is in the context of this question how does yet function differently than although?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hmm I’m not sure “yet” functions much differently than “although” in this stimulus. The only crucial difference I see is that “yet” indicates a stipulation/concession of a continuous nature—meaning it’s connected to an idea that precedes it (example “but”). I think it could help to note that both of those sentences start off with a stipulation, but I don’t think we must dig in on those words much more than that to get to the MP. I hope that helps!

    Thanks! That's a great explanation.

With the although, you know for sure that the statement after the first bit of it is definitely the speaker's opinion. With yet, I suppose it is kind of just a throw away point.
