Question on Grouping Games

Do you have any advice on when to do grouping games regularly vs. when to do grouping games with a chart?

I believe in a video lesson JY said whenever there are the same amount of game pieces and categories it is a good idea to use a chart. So say you have four people and four activities or something like that, a chart would work well. Sorry I could not explain that more clearly, hope it helps!
