I think the more succinctly you can make your personal statement - without losing your voice - the better. The readers have to read hundreds if not thousands of personalstatements. Make your personal statement interesting, but easy to read too :)
An intellectual theme could be great—but it sounds like it won’t work for you. That’s totally fine! I myself have seen more good personalstatements without an overarching intellectual theme than with.

Don't mention politics at all in personalstatements. Delete all mentions of politics, social justice and anything culture war-related from social media. Actually just delete all your social media. You never know who you're dealing with.

I personally do name schools in my PS. I believe this is ok based on past research on personalstatements (I've read many from top schools!). I think it's more of a personal decision rather than a concern of permissibility.
