In the past, students of Renaissance women's education extolled the unprecedented intellectual liberty and equality available to these women, but recently scholars have presented a different view of Renaissance education and opportunity for women.

Which one of the following ████ █████████ ███ ████ ████ ██ ███ ████████
Although previous scholarship █████████ ███ ███████████ ██ █ ████ ██ ████████ █████████ ███ ██████ ██████ ███████████ ███ █████ ████ █████ █████ ████████ ██ █████████ ██████ ███ ███████████ ████ ██ ████████ ██████
Not supported, because the author never suggests “fewer” women received an education during the Renaissance compared to medieval times. Rather, the author tells us that education for women was limited during the Renaissance — although women were educated, there were ways in which they didn’t get the same education as men. This doesn’t imply that a smaller number of women received an education.

This is the best answer because it is the only one that is both accurate and focuses on the differences between education for men and women in the Renaissance. (B) is arguably more narrow than we’d like, but there’s no better answer.
The education of █████ ██████ ███ ███████████ ███ ███ ███████ ████ ███ ███████ ██ ███████████ ███ ████ ██ █████ █████ ███████ ██ ██████████ ██████████ ████████ ██████
Not supported, because we’re told women’s education did include literary education. So we have no reason to think the education didn’t prepare them for careers in literature.
The division of ████████ ████ ████ █████ ███████ ████ ██ ███ ███████████ ██████████ ████████████ ███████████ ██ █████ ██ ███████████
Not supported, because we have no reason to think that the division of language arts from liberal arts had any influence on gender-based differences in curriculum. The author mentions the three language arts and then tells us about how Renaissance education treated those three arts. But the separation of those arts from other liberal arts isn’t connected to the gender-based differences described later in the passage.
Even though their ██████████ █████████ ██████████ █████████ █████ ███ ███████ ██ ███ ███████████ ███████ ██ ███ ████ ███████ ██████ █████ ██████ ██ █████ ███████████
This isn’t the main point, because the passage focuses on the differences between men’s and women’s education in the Renaissance.
