Ordering games will place variables in single slots. Your primary consideration will be the order in which the variables are placed in relation to one another, as in 1 comes before 2, 3 comes after 2, etc.

Grouping games will place multiple variables in slots that have space for more than one variable. Your primary consideration will be the ways in which the different variables can be grouped together, as in A goes with C, B cannot go with D, etc.

There are some games that combine ordering and grouping elements.

In the pure sequencing, the rules involve the relationship between one variable and another, such as H is before before D but after K or M or is after N, in the linear the rules there are rules for individual or defined spot, seats, etc in the ordering set up.
