Hi is someone able to walk me through this LR question? In general, I struggle with sufficient assumption (SA) and pseudo-SA questions (even though I know JY calls them freebies), so I would love to have general tips for getting these right as well as the one pertaining to PTB S4 Q4 (the one that talks about political self-determination). So this question is definitely not a freebie (it's a five star curve breaker) so I wouldn't panic too much.
The question answers are as follows im being quite definitive in my explanations here while the question plays on probability words like almost certainily and best chance
A ) incorrect. Author is arguing against this position and seems like it is denying the authors premise that external forces can't work.
B ) incorrect. doesn't contribute to the argument in a significant way. who cares if self-determination is the first or last step on the path to freedom.
C ) Here's the correct answer. ( Conclusion statement: If external forces weigh in well to help communits almost cerntainly can't be free. Premise: because the need to develope these other virtues in order to remain free.) So what's the rule does our argument conform to,
does not have certain developed political virtues -> cannot remain free
is able to remain free -> has certain developed poltical virtues
D ) incorrect This doesn't show why communities aided by outside forces can't be free
E ) incorrect, this is just an irrelevant opinion statement
