Hi,

I'm scheduled to take the Aug LSAT. I scored a 157 on my diagnostic, and am trying to reach mid 170s. My highest PT most recently was a 168. I've stopped taking as many PTs because I really fell off on my studying and am trying to focus again.

I am relatively solid in L1-3 difficulty questions, and am doing fine in RC for the most part. I am really struggling with conditional reasoning, which is a big reason why I've plateaued and can't seem to break. I've tried a lot of different platforms, like Loophole, 7Sage, LSAT Demon, and LSAT Lab but admittedly I've been too frustrated with my struggle to understand conditional reasoning to stick with any of their recommended plans for long.

I'm really looking for someone who can help me understand diagramming in a simplistic way and can work with me to provide a targeted approach to conditional reasoning/other weaknesses in my LSAT scores. I am actually a tutor myself for non-LSAT-related subjects, so I do appreciate and see the value in a good tutor. I'd prefer a PST-based tutor who has weekend availability if possible!

Hello! Conditionals are definitely a skill that many students cite as difficult when LSAT prepping, but I also see them as one of the most learnable parts of the LSAT! I would definitely recommend checking out the "Conditional and Set Logic" module under the "Fundamentals" section of our core curriculum. It will give you a strong foundation for the different conditional indicator words and show you strategies for using diagramming to help simplify the conditional process. I personally work with students a ton on conditionals and enjoy breaking down the complex ideas to much more manageable pieces of information that you feel confident applying. Our coaching-style tutoring method can help guide you through building these skills that will translate to real point gains on your test. Our vetted tutors will also create groups of recommended drills and help guide you through PT timing to ensure you are consistently making progress in a style that fits into your schedule, while also examining your analytics and building a study plan designed to maximize your score gains. If you may be interested in working with a 7Sage tutor, we'd love to connect with you over a free consultation! Let me know if you have any more specific questions and I'd be happy to answer them for you.

    Best,

    Sean

I can definitely help with that.

My own approach to conditional reasoning and diagramming is actually pretty simple and somewhat homemade. The reason for that is that I never really connected with many of the more elaborate approaches taught by the major prep companies, so over time I developed a much more straightforward system that was easier for me to process and apply consistently.

Despite its simplicity, it works very well, including on the more difficult/higher-difficulty questions.

If you'd like, send me a DM and I'd be happy to discuss the approach in more detail and see whether it might be a good fit for what you're looking for.

I'm not on the West Coast, but I do work weekends and can typically start sessions as late as 7:30–8:00 PM PST.

    Best of luck either way!

    Scott
