Got a 168 on PT 157, but I just scored a 162 on PT 156. I knew the bebop RC killed me, and I definitely missed some LR gimmes, but how can I go about eliminating this level of variance when it comes to the actual August exam? Any tips/advice appreciated.

A little variance is to be expected, especially in this score bracket! Different tests have different question distributions, so some play to your strengths and exploit your weaknesses more than others. Echoing the below advice, do an in-depth review of the tests. Look at the questions you got wrong, but also the ones it took you more time to answer, or ones where you went back and forth between answers. Understanding why the right answer is right is great, but understanding why you chose your answer and why it wasn't right are also incredibly beneficial. Then drill those question types, focusing on one question type at a time.
@PhoebeHopp thank you!! Great advice.
I think score improvement and score maintenance require the same approach! Keep drilling and keep identifying problematic patterns. It sounds like you've already identified some areas you could improve, so try working on those. At worst (best?), you won't eliminate your variance, but instead of varying between 162 and 168, you'll vary between 168 and the 170s. Good luck!
@DaliaGolovco great advice. Thanks!
