dont waste an attempt if you have not reached your target goal. thats why its recommended not to schedule the lsat until you reach your goal. I would suggest you do not take the lsat in august, you only have 5 attempts. I started at 152 diagnostic and it took 6 months to see a 10 point improvement. 140 tells me that you dont understand the foundations fully yet. What made the biggest difference for me is trying to predict the answer choices, i started with Strengthen and Weaken and then moved to NA. if you can predict 160 shouldnt be a problem. taking the lsat is never "practice for the real one".
@Peter888. I cannot agree any more strongly with Ovidiu. If you want a 170+, please do not ever take the official test until you are scoring within the range that you believe yourself capable. I made the mistake you are making and took the real test when I was PT-ing in the ~165 range even though I wanted a 172+ real score. Guess what, I didn't miraculously jump 7 points; instead, I scored within the range I was practicing. Since then, I have grinded and am now scoring within the range I want which is why I have signed up for the Aug & Sept exams. But hear me loud and clear, I am kicking myself now for wasting attempts when I wasn't ready.
