RC HELP

I am confident in my LR ability with getting -1 and -2 multiple times on PTs and section practices. HOWEVER, RC is bringing my score down so so much. I am supposed to take the August exam in a week. What can I do to improve my RC?

I feel so good while doing RC, but then I get -10 wrong. I don't know what to do.

What has been helping me with RC is sacrificing one passage in order to allocate more time on three passages and try to get near perfect on them. I take my time on three and skim one and answer its questions quickly. Not bulletproof, but this strategy has helped me.

EDIT: If you are not already, make sure you are doing low-res for each para and MP before even looking at the questions. That helps reinforce the structure of the passage.

My RC is slowly improving. No lesson really helped me besides the question type advice. I think you just need to read every passage very thoroughly and focus on the words; make sure you study enough to where the structure of a passage becomes natural to see and kind of a background thought, to help allow for the details to be remembered well.

I use the Sage AI to analyze my results when I take sections, and it helps me to flag trends it sees as problematic, which helps me then adapt. For example, Sage AI told me I was reading the passages too fast and then spending too much time on the questions. I now try to take a full 3-4 minutes to read the passage slowly, and find this helps me feel more confident and to move more quickly on the questions. It also flags for me when I'm spending too long on something or particular tags I struggle with, and then recommends drills to focus on them.

Maybe try a little bit of practicing different things to see what works for you? I know some people take notes, highlight differently, etc. I also recommend working more on RC untimed before going back into timed sections. I was also struggling with RC and, while I'm not perfect on these, the changes I mentioned above helped me go from -7 average to now anywhere from -4 to -1 (on most sections now anyways haha)

I don't have a ton of great advice, mostly following so I can learn from others too. Hopefully it is some consolation that I among many others also are wondering the same things!

Similar boat as you. All the advice I have been given just kind of goes over my head regarding RC. LR feels so much easier to learn because the questions are so similar, but RC (for me at least) differs wildly passage by passage
