I've made some really solid progress in LR and RC, and I'm definitely not upset with my score. That said, I am a little disappointed because I really want to break into the 170s. After reading through the explanations, I realized that, aside from a few random misses, my thinking actually lined up with the correct reasoning most of the time. Do you have any advice on what it takes to make that jump and consistently score in the 170s?

Blind review every time, have a militant wrong answer journal, do single-section drills more than full PTs, and proactively predict the answer before you even look at the options, for every single question.
It has helped me a lot to focus on my thought process and identifying specifically where I went wrong. After taking each test, I would write through my thought process, think through where I went wrong and what I would need to do to reach the correct answer.
I'm in the same boat (or jailhouse), so thank you for asking this! Lots of great tips in the comments 😊
hello! i was in the mid 160s for a bit of time, it is only recently where i got a 174 and 173 on PTs. for me what helped was blind reviewing thoroughly every question i got wrong. i would also look through every question of the PT and even if i got a question right, if I struggled to get that right answer i make sure to look at the other ACs that were attractive, and find out why they were wrong. some advice from some mistakes i personally have seen myself make: for LR, make sure to read the stimulus CAREFULLY as well as the wording of the AC's. stick very grounded to the stimulus and do not make any unwarranted assumptions in your answers. if every AC looks tempting, do process of elimination and determine which one best correlates and stays most grounded to the stimulus. if it helps, sketch out conditionals so you aren't doing all the work in your head. aim to finish the first 10 questions of the LR sections in 10 minutes or less. do not attempt to assign anything to the stimulus that is further beyond its scope. pay attention to relevancy. recognize patterns with correct ACs. for RC, yours seems like it is pretty solid, i find myself floating between -2 and -5. my personal strategy is refining my LR the best it possibly can be, since those points are easier to see improvement in, are easier to learn, and also since there are 2 LR sections. i recommend doing the same if your lsat is approaching close, but also of course continue to do RC practice as well. i hope this helps let me know if you have any questions!
TLDR: blind review every question, recognize patterns in correct choices, identify mistakes you keep committing
Something that helped me was not just training skills but training confidence as well! That way you can use your correct reasoning and trust your gut :) Good luck!
Start blind reviewing, thoroughly, that 100% helps
Thank you to everyone who gave advice, going to try it out this week and report back!!
Just curious, how long have you been at 164 for? How many prep tests have you been consistently been hitting in the mid 160s? I think just getting into the mid 160s vs I have been here for awhile are very two different things.
I'm in the same exact spot! I have been hitting 164 consistently with 170s in BR. I'm so frustrated and need help!
