Hi, I took the LSAT this August and took a bit of a break afterward, and now it’s already mid-August!
Although I tried to start brainstorming and outlining my PS after my June test, it didn’t really go well. I somehow ended up spending most of my time preparing for the August LSAT because I wasn’t satisfied with my June score.
I’m not happy with my current topic or outline, so I’d like to start over with the brainstorming process.
I was hoping to start submitting applications in mid-September, but now I’m worried that might be an unrealistic goal.
How long did it take you to finish your PS? I’ve seen some people say it took them several months, and having only about a month left until mid-September is making me pretty anxious.
Do you think finishing the application for, say, two schools by mid-September is a realistic goal? Or should I give myself more time and aim to submit in October instead?
Would applying about a month later make a significant difference in the admissions process?
I’d really appreciate any advice!!

I can't speak from personal experience, @ahsley, but I can tell you that the best way to get to the end result is to get the ball rolling. Like, I can't tell you how long it'll take you to successfully train for a marathon, but I can tell you that the best thing to do today is go out for a 10-15 minute jog!
Back to personal statements, the goal here is to explain why you want to go to law school. So define that for yourself - what does that future job look like? Once you get that, work backwards to create the timeline of events/interactions/experiences that have led you to conclude that that future job is the right fit for you. What you then have staring at you is your outline. If you put 30 mins per day into outlining, I bet you'd have that ready to go pretty quick.
And then past that, keep up that 30-60 minute per day thing. If you make this into a routine, you'll get to your end result sooner rather than later!
@JacobBaska Thank you so much! I was feeling very overwhelmed and your advices really helped :)
