@Esalas_me Thank you!! I'm so relieved knowing that I'm not the only one crying over this whole process! Yes, we'll all be lawyers at the end of the day. Wish you all the best :)

@kmbabcock Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this!

I really like your point about studying imperfectly rather than not at all. There were some times where I just gave up on studying cause I thought I won't finish what I allotted on that day. I definitely need to get out of that habit!

I also love the idea of separating lsat studying and application prep. I've been trying to do both everyday and ended up not doing either of those satisfyingly. This is a great idea!

Wishing you the best with both the LSAT and applications. We've got this!

@TiffanyMeadows Thank you so much for this. It honestly made me feel less alone.

I really admire your discipline. Going straight to the library after a long commute and a full workday is incredibly impressive. You're inspiring! We've got this!!

@EmmaWelch Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful response.

I appreciate your perspective on the personal statement. I've definitely been overthinking what admissions committees want to hear instead of focusing on my own story. I'll try to approach it with a different mindset.

Thanks again for the encouragement and the tips—I really appreciate it!

😖 Frustrated

Balancing LSAT study and Application prep

Balancing LSAT Study and Application Prep

Hi everyone! I made a post about this a couple of weeks ago, and I can confidently say I haven't been balancing things well. :(

I feel like I'm not making enough progress on either my LSAT prep or my applications.

I've definitely been spending much less time studying for the LSAT than I should, and I'm getting really nervous since my August LSAT is only four weeks away.

At the same time, all I've done for my applications is put together a school list. I still haven't figured out my personal statement outline.

Does anyone have advice on how to balance both? I want to stay disciplined and make solid progress on both my LSAT and my applications, but it honestly feels overwhelming. How are you all managing your time?

I found stem first method very helpful! After learning and establishing different skills for different types of question, this method enabled me to solve questions much more efficiently and faster.

🙃 Confused

New format for August

I just checked LawHub to see the new interface for the August test, and I noticed it's slightly different from the current 7Sage format.

Can anyone explain what the "Keyboard Highlight" feature does? It doesn't seem to do anything on my end.

I also don't see any highlighter or underline tools.

Finally, is it correct that after selecting text, I have to click the "Highlight" button to actually highlight it? Or is this just a bug? It feels extremely inconvenient because the text used to be highlighted automatically as soon as I selected it. Having to click "Highlight" every time seems like an unnecessary extra step. :(

@businessgoose Thank you!! I've been doing PTs every two or three days, so I'm not used to taking one only once a week. But I should probably start doing that, considering I have to work on my applications now!

@monmon I think taking the test at least two times is a smart idea. Hope you the best!

@StephanieElissaint This sounds like a good idea. Can I ask you how many times you take PTs a week?

I took the June LSAT and, due to repeated proctor interruptions, I underperformed relative to my PT average and ended up with a 169.

I'm happy that the score wasn't as low as I feared, but since I had been consistently scoring 170+ on my recent PTs, I've decided to retake in August.

The problem is that I'm also applying in the upcoming cycle and originally planned for June to be my final LSAT. My plan was to focus on application materials from July, but now I need to keep studying for the LSAT as well.

For those who retook the LSAT while preparing applications, how did you balance the two? Did you focus almost entirely on the LSAT until test day, or did you work on personal statements and other application materials at the same time?

For context, I'm studying full-time right now and hope to submit my applications in this October. Also I'm an international applicant so might need stronger PS (not sure).

Any advice on timelines, scheduling, or time management would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

@Mary Thank you!! :)

I wanted to turn the Lawhub automatic import feature off and was told that it's not possible.

Can you please make it possible to turn that feature off?

There are many PTs on Lawhub that I used for blind review, before subscribing 7sage.

Also there are a lot of PTs that I used for just one section practice, so my score is like 120.

It's messing up my analytics :(!

I didn't have any problem before, cause I never used import from lawhub feature, and only manually imported PTs which I actually used for full PT.

@MichaelWright Wow!! Thank you so much!!

I just saw the video today since I've been taking a little break from the LSAT to recharge. I was genuinely surprised and so grateful that you took the time to make a video response for me.

As someone who has always appreciated your detailed explanations of PT questions, it's honestly such an honor to hear your thoughts! XD

It's also really reassuring to hear that many people's first LSAT experience is similar to mine and that I'm on the right track. The June test was definitely a learning experience, and your perspective helped me feel much better about it.

I'm going to keep working hard and do my best to be fully prepared for August. Thank you again for your time, encouragement, and kind words. They truly meant a lot to me and were exactly what I needed to hear.

@DanielJ1 They should be banned from interrupting in the middle of RC😢 Good luck on your retest!!

@PrateekDevulpally Thank you, I really needed to hear this. I've been replaying the interruptions over and over and convincing myself they must have ruined my score, even though I have no way of knowing that right now.

I also appreciate your perspective on declining the retest. I've been second-guessing that decision a lot, so it helps to hear from someone who's been through both the MCAT and LSAT. Thanks again for taking the time to write such a thoughtful response. :)

@IsabelleThieme I already chose not to retest (the retest I get from complaint) but I think I'll definitely take the test again on August. Hope the in person one on August goes well. Thanks!

@CoreyBarry Yeah, it seemed like they weren't really well instructed or prepared to administer the test smoothly.

This June test was my first-ever LSAT, and it was a horrible experience. I was constantly interrupted by proctors throughout the exam.

Right after Section 1 began, which was my only RC, the proctor told me she couldn't see my shoulders and asked me to adjust my camera. The timer was not paused. I adjusted the camera and was told everything looked fine. However, despite not changing the camera angle afterward, I kept getting interrupted during the section and was repeatedly told to adjust it again. Since I was using a laptop with a built-in camera, I eventually had to tilt my screen so much that it became uncomfortable to read.

I think I was interrupted at least five times during that first section. Then, during Passage 4, the proctor interrupted me again and said, "This is the last warning, please cooperate." That completely threw me off. I had been cooperating the entire time and was doing everything I was asked to do. At that point I was so stressed that I wanted to cry.

I adjusted the camera again and asked whether my shoulders were visible. The proctor responded, "No." I adjusted it again and asked once more, and she replied with just "." That interaction made me genuinely worried that I would be removed from the exam. I completely lost focus and feel like that RC section was ruined.

Sections 2 and 3 were somewhat better, but I was still interrupted multiple times. Before every section, I specifically asked the proctor whether my shoulders were visible and was told everything was fine. Yet a few minutes into the section, I would be told to tilt the camera further. Every time a new proctor took over, I seemed to get different instructions.

By Section 4, my screen was already tilted to an uncomfortable angle. The proctor had confirmed before the section that everything looked good, so I thought I was finally done with the interruptions. Then THE SAME PROCTOR who had repeatedly interrupted me during Section 1 came back (I remembered her name) and told me to tilt it even more. Just seeing her message pop up again was distracting because I was worried another interruption was coming. So my last section didn't really go well either.

After the exam, I checked my camera. It was showing my entire chest. I even returned it to the angle I had started with, and my shoulders were clearly visible.

I've spent the last two days agonizing over whether to request a retest. Today I submitted a complaint but decided not to retest. I've spent the last six months studying for this exam, and honestly, I just wanted a break. I'm scared about how much the interruptions affected my score because I feel like I completely lost my focus during my only RC section. At the same time, I don't even remember enough of the test to judge how I actually performed.

I'm not sure if I made the right decision not to retest... At this point, I'm just hoping I somehow did better than I think... If not I'll focus on August. I really wanted June to be my last LSAT, so that's really sad...

I initially picked C but changed to A because the stimulus never said that the QUALITY was below the average. What's below the average is the test passing rate... I was happy thinking I noticed the trap and didn't fall into it. Sad :(
