Hello!

I'm sure like many other people, I'm not very happy with my LSAT score. I was averaging around mid to high 150's on my PTs, and my official score was way below all my PTs. I was expecting my official score to drop below my average but I did not expect this. I'm registered for the October exam, but I'm not even sure if that's the right move at this point. For added context, I am a senior in college and I'm currently working with a tutor in preparation for October, but again, I'm not sure that I'll be ready or able to hit my average or even my target. Would November be a better option at this point or should I look at other options such as potentially taking a gap year? Any advice is appreciated!

I totally understand why you’re feeling discouraged, especially after consistently scoring in the mid-to-high 150s on your PTs. But I wouldn’t make any big decisions about October or taking a gap year just yet!

A good place to start is figuring out why your official score was so far below your PTs. Was it timing, nerves, certain question types, or consistency? Once you know what went wrong, you can focus your prep on fixing those weaknesses rather than just taking more PTs.

Since you’re already working with a tutor, I’d give yourself a few more weeks and see how your scores respond to a more targeted approach. If you get back into your usual PT range, October could still be a great option. And if you need more time, November is always there.

One bad test day doesn’t erase the work you’ve already put in.
