Hi everyone!

I’m currently studying for the November test and everytime I take an untimed section I’m getting -4 and -5 consistently, how do I translate this to my timed tests? 🤔

Hi there! Scoring around -4 or -5 on untimed sections is a great sign that you already have a solid foundation. At this stage, timing is probably not the only thing to work on. Before you shift your focus to speed, take some time to carefully review every question you missed or felt unsure about. Try to pinpoint exactly where your reasoning went off track. This will help you build even stronger habits as you start to add in timing.

Instead of jumping straight into 35-minute sections, try easing into timing. You might start with smaller timed sets, or give yourself 40 to 45 minutes for a full section at first. As you get more comfortable, you can slowly shorten the time while keeping your accuracy high. The goal is to practice making those careful decisions, just a little bit faster each time.

It also helps to have a clear rule for when to skip a question. If you reread a question and still feel stuck, pick your best answer, flag it, and move on for now. After you finish a timed section, look back and see which questions took you the longest and try to figure out why. This way, you can work on your timing without feeling like you have to rush through everything.
