Hi all,

I had a general question about MSS particularly PT146.S2.Q15. I think in hindsight, you can get this right with process of elimination because all the wrong answers are too strong. I was also too fixed on thinking this answers was going to be related to fruits and vegetables but that's a separate issue. With MSS questions, its been my understanding that being too strong is not as bad or immediate grounds for dismissal as other questions like NA.

Of course you should always take a second and really think about the answers, but I feel like this has happened a bit more frequently for me with MSS questions, keeping answers that are too strong instead of eliminating them in hopes of getting the correct answer, so what's the middle ground?

I just looked at this question. For me, I would definitely have to get the right answer through POE. I honestly wouldn’t have an expectations on MSS questions (as you mentioned u were fixated on it saying something about fruits and vegetables) - I would just do the process of elimination. I would eliminate any answers that contain anything remotely false or unknown. Here is my thought process for the potential answers for that - hope this helps.

A - nope, we don’t know that. We only known they prescribe a narrow range. The author also said “however, everyone should eat plenty of fruits and vegetables”, so if anything, this made me think fad diets don’t require them (but idk that either)

B - we don’t know that. Just because the author says fruits and vegetables protect against a wide range doesn’t mean they are the ONLY ones who do so. I think this is confusing the necessary and sufficient condition. Just because exercise is a great way to lose weight doesn’t mean it’s the only way to do so (e.g., you can take ozempic)

C - we don’t know that any two people have different problems/needs. You can pick two people who coincidentally have the same problems and therefore same needs. Just because many ppl have diff health problems doesn’t mean no one shares any problems. If it said no one shares health problems and thus needs that would be different.

D - yes, that is what I interpret from this. fad diets prescribe a narrow range of nutrients and that doesn’t cover the dietary needs of some people because diff foods/nutrients address diff needs

E - similar to B, we don’t know about other foods besides fruits and vegetables. The author doesn’t speak to them. Maybe bread has excellent nutrients for addressing someone’s Lyme disease
