Here's a blog I wrote last year about attending forums. Hopefully it's useful to cover the basics!
My two cents are to not bring resumes because 1) I'm not going to save them, 2) because you'll give me your resume when you apply, and 3) because that would require me carrying this resume back to the office with me which - yeah, no - that's not happening.
Not sure about resumes, but definitely prep a question or two and even school-specific questions. Keep in mind you might talk to an admissions person OR an alum, so come up with questions for both audiences.
I brought a notebook to take notes.
I think they’ll give you a tote bag that you can use for handouts, so don’t worry about that.
Some schools give out fee waivers for chatting, so make sure you register w each school (some have a signin sheet, some do QR codes)!
A lot of your time might be spent waiting in lines, so don’t be afraid to chat w other applicants! It might feel very competitive and intimidating, but everyone is still people, and most will act accordingly. It helped me feel a lot more comfortable and passed the awkward silent waiting time!
Another applicant I chatted w said she asked for business cards from each person she talked to and was going to email a “thank you.” I didn’t but I thought that was a nice idea.
