Everywhere I have been seeing says to get your application in as soon as possible as the longer you wait, the more it minimizes acceptance/scholarship funds. I took the LSAT in September and got a 150 (had some personal life things going on) and am registered to take the test again in November. While I understand ambitious, I want to get within the 165`s. If I take the November test and not satisfied, am I hurting myself by taking the LSAT again in January?

Keep in mind, I am a nontraditional student who works a demanding job, that requires variable hours and travel schedule.

I got the exact same score in August. I considered rushing through another official attempt to try to make it for this cycle, but decided to take my time and test when I PT is my goal score, which is 170s. I studied for four months and increased 11 points (diagnostic was 139) so I'm confident I can get to my goal score with time and effort. If you just want to start law school, you can apply later in this cycle and possibly get in with lower scholarship or none, but if you have a specific goal in mind, take your time! Not saying you can't improve your score by January, you absolutely can but it is very competitive out here. Good luck!

Thank you for the insight! This is great. I need to remind myself if I don`t do this cycle, it does not mean chances of law school are off the table.

Hope the studying is going well for you!

I am not a traditional student, but from experience, I do think it could hurt you and maybe consider retaking it early next cycle if November does not satisfy you. If you scored higher, then you can still apply and it being early December will be better than submitting in February. In the case you do not score where you want, and think you can, give yourself even more time between testing, allowing you to really get that 165+ goal. If law school sooner than later is your goal, if you find your NOV score to be decent, it would still be worth to send a couple of applications. In the case you do want to take your Jan test, AND it is a score you like, I would still advise applying the following cycle but just keep your score. As you said, your job has variable hours, so that could impact how much you can actually study from December - > Next Cycle, so if that time between Nov and Jan can make you confident you will get your 165+, do it! I would say scholarship consideration is big, but some schools have different deadlines, but you still want to avoid getting close to those dates. It will be beneficial for you to have an application in earlier because you can get that step ahead of other applicants. I hope this helps and best of luck moving forward!
