Hey yall, I need some help interpreting this test result. I started studying for the LSAT in late August. My cold diagnostic was a 145 and I used the study plan and videos from the lesson library to study since then. That being said, the one thing I neglected to do was preptests. Since my diagnostic, I had only taken one other preptests and got a 157. Along with this, all of the practice sections I do normally result in around a 155-160 range. I took the OCT lsat and felt like I did terribly which was again not motivating because my goal is the 160-163 range. Then a week after the OCT LSAT, I do my third ever preptest and get this score. I can't help but feel like this is an outlier score that shouldn't be used to measure my ability or diagnose where I'm at in my study. Can anyone help me navigate this???

Hi there! You're right that this could be an outlier score, but alternatively, things may have clicked after the October LSAT. I've had a client or two before who found that after taking the real thing, some things clicked in a way they hadn't before. Whether that was because of the test suddenly feeling real, or just taking a week off and letting your brain process what you're learning, it's very possible that this PT is reflective of your score. It does look like there's some significant variation across sections, though, so it might be good to do a little targeted drilling with specific goals in mind, and then PT again in a week or two and see where you're at!
The fact that you scored a 165 means you clearly have the ability to do so, so even if this is an outlier score it is still proof that you're well on your way to making it not an outlier! And depending on how long ago you took your second PT, it could also just be that studying has paid off and the strategies you're learning have had time to sink in. So keep at it, starting with drills and working toward sections and PTs as usual, and see if you can PT again in this range! To be honest, the best way to know where you're really at and figure out if this is an outlier is to keep studying, focusing on specific things you struggled with in this PT and previous PTs/sections, and then PT again. Best of luck, and great work making it this far!!
Thank you for the advice!!! 😁
