columbia has an essay with a world limit of 500 words. i have a one-pager of my perspective statement that i'd like to submit, which comes out to about 445 words. should i make use of those extra 15 words (would be a sentence or two on the next page), or keep the essay to one page? like, is it fine to have an extra sentence on a second page or does that look sloppy?

From the AdComm perspective - it’s not a problem if you’re asking me to read less. And given that 500 words is usually 1.5ish pages of 12 point font, they’re going to see statements that are about your length. It’s totally fine! But it’s also totally fine if you want to use those remaining 55 words to go from 445 to 500. Either way!
