The only D's on my transcript are from Spanish. This was due to attendance where we had several afterhours, late evening meetings that I could not attend due to my conflicting work schedules. (I was working multiple jobs) Unfortunately, this had a huge impact on my grade for the course and my GPA. Should I write an addenda or will it look like I am a poor planner/making excuses? Happy to provide more context if needed.
For reference, I was on the President's List before taking Spanish courses and bumped down to having under a 3.0 GPA after taking and retaking this course. It also was a required course for my major so I could not have taken an alternative.

I would 100% write an addenda. It would fill in the gap and explain why your grade dropped during this time. Doing an addenda in general doesn't make you look like you are a poor planner/making excuses. I think it is definitely HOW you write it that matters. 7Sage has some lessons on how to write a good addenda. You could also look online for some other examples.
For the record - I think working multiple jobs can be extremely difficult in and of itself. The fact that you were even going to school during that time is amazing! I know getting into law school is competitive, but admissions professionals also understand that we are human. I think the fact that you went to school and had multiple jobs speaks to your work ethic and drive.
@Kvans17 Thank you for the advice!
And just chiming in from the admissions perspective - it’s always better to control the narrative than leave it to me to guess what happened. And you can always bring up that you tried your best given the scheduling conflict but this was just what you could do given your work schedule.
@JacobBaska Thank you! I did end up writing an addendum.
If anyone could review my addenda, I'd appreciate it!
@JaidaAnderson I would be happy to take a look!
