Hi all,
Sadly, I write this with great despair. I was REALLY confident about this Oct LSAT but ended up scoring a 161. My highest official score is 163. This is kind of heartbreaking because I have all of my materials in to apply for Northwestern ED, and am considering pulling my application and waiting to submit until I get my score for the November test. Here's the thing tho - what if I'm equally disappointed by that score? In that case, I would have waited until early December (when the Nov LSAT comes back) to apply in the regular pool, and put myself at an even bigger disadvantage. I was PTing consistently 165-168, so not sure what happened on test day. I need yall to help me decide what to do.
Some background - I have really really strong work experience, a 4.0 GPA, some great LOR, and (IMO) pretty good essays.
Am I delusional to think that NU will let me in with a 163 LSAT?
And here's another thing - do I now have to wait until early Dec to submit my other applications because I'm waiting for my Nov score? That will put me at such a disadvantage I fear.
Feeling super discouraged and really unsure what to do right now. Any advice would seriously make my day. Thanks yall.

The only other thing I’d add here is that I think it’d be a good idea to call the NU admissions office and get their advice. You might as well throw it out there to them.
Regarding the other schools, you also have the option of applying in the window between taking the Nov LSAT and the results coming back. That would help ensure your app is ready for them as soon as the Nov score comes back.
@JacobBaska thank you Jacob, this is helpful! Maybe this is just a gap in my research, but how do you apply before your score is ready? Do they just not look at it until that Nov score comes back?
@Epicness You just click “submit” on your app and your CAS report. That’s really it. LSAC will automatically inform the school that you’ve registered for the Nov LSAT. It’s then up to the school to determine if they’ll complete your app before or after the Nov LSAT score arrives.
@JacobBaska is there a higher rejection rate here though? or do they put my in a different category of applicant?
@Epicness If it’s a school that won’t review your app if there’s a pending LSAT, then it’s a moot point since they will hold off reviewing things.
If it’s a school that may review your app before the new LSAT comes in, here’s what you’re banking on. If you take the LSAT on Nov 12 and apply on the 15th, what are the odds that they’ll review your file before December 2nd? And remember that Thanksgiving is in there. And that these are human beings who are apt to say things like “well, they’re great other than that LSAT, and we know that new score is coming in a week so we could just hold off for a smidge.”
@JacobBaska you make some fabulous points, Jacob. thank you as always. you've been a HUGE help!!!
I think you have it in you to go above a 163 in November. I think if you have that confidence too, make sure the November test is yours to take. I do not think you are delusional to think you will be let in, but that confidence when applying makes a worlds difference. I know you have strong softs and a great gpa (which I think helps your case for admission) , so if that confidence is enough to push you and say you know what, this 163 does not define me, I meet their median GPA and have so much to contribute, why would they not want me? Either way, however you bet on yourself, it will pay off trust!! Best of Luck, I know I did not lean on a particular side w my answer, but I think it ultimately comes down to what decision makes YOU comfortable. You got this bro
@SamuelRamirez you have no idea how helpful this was. thank you man i appreciate you hella
@Epicness ofc, time to have your very own Minnesota miracle moment 🙏❤️
