Hello! Was wondering if anyone could tell me what are the restrictions on AI usage for law school application resumes? I was going to run my resume through AI to reformat it because I am having format issues with my current template, but did not want to do it if that means that it will cause issues with my application. Would this use of AI be allowed?

So while freely admitting that I'm generally AI-sceptic (as in, "I'll ask a smart speaker to play music and tell me the weather forecast; I would not trust any smart system to do anything more complex than that"), this is one where I'd encourage you just to find another template to use rather than use AI. Reach out to your undergrad pre-law society, use the one on the 7Sage website, etc. Those are better options just so that you don't run afoul of any AI restrictions at different law schools.

    Just my own two cents!

  • Hi! I would advise reading each school's policy & FAQ very carefully. While true that just using AI for reformatting will probably be unnoticeable/undetected, some schools very explicitly prohibit AI usage at all in completing the application (UCLA, for example).
