    HAH turns out I was wrong as well. Or we were both half right. We needed to combine our analyses and realize that this is actually a biconditional statement. It reads as BOTH a sufficient and necessary condition. The "only requirement" for something to happen means it's a both a sufficient and necessary condition.

    So to answer your original question:

    save koala <--> stop deforestation

    /save koala <--> /stop deforestation

    "All that is needed to save the koala is to stop deforestation”

    It may help to write it in different wording to separate out the necessary from sufficient.

    All that is required in order to save the koalas is to stop deforestation. The thing that's needed is to stop deforestation.

    So if save koala --> stop deforestation

    I disagree with the other comment here. The sentence needs a bit of grammar parsing. If you find the kernel sentence, you get "all that is needed is to stop deforestation". That's the requirement aka the necessary condition. "To save the koala" is the goal.

    In order to achieve the goal, you need to do X.

    If achieve goal --> you have done X

    stop deforestation ---> Save Koala When they say "All that is needed" They're telling you that as long as you do this, the koalas will be saved. Saving the koalas is guaranteed by stopping deforestation, so stopping deforestation is sufficient for saving the koalas
