@danjpeach96 Thank you! I've definitely seen improvements overall, especially with my BR. It harder for me because I have almost no time alone to study so I know that's a factor in why I'm not doing as well as I would like. I am getting a lot faster at answering questions and I'm able to identify some of the patterns even if I can't put it into words. I'm also working on learning when to skip question types that I waste too much time on. Previously, majority of my BR would be for incorrect answers and now a lot is just changing my answers or taking a little too long on answering. I'm never able to get through more than a few questions without having to pause for something so going straight through while timed has been my biggest challenge. But that's more to do with my family and work. This platform has been a huge help! Good luck in your journey and I hope it works out well for you.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm in a similar boat only older. I'm 36 going on 37 and studying to try and get into law school next year. I'll be taking the June LSAT since I bombed the January one. And since I have a home and kids and can't move, or go to law school near me, I'll be applying to schools that offer an online 4 year program with minimal site visits. Good luck! I don't think its as rare as one would assume.

I don't have any advice since I'm dealing with the same issues. But just wanted you to know you're not alone. I have been drilling non-stop and I do feel like that has help me a little with improving. I've still got two more months of that and I'm hoping during that time I'll be able to my scores up to at least close to my BR scores.

I use both. I typically use the lightbulb when I got an answer right but I realize I was wavering, or if I feel like I just need a little extra context. I use the video explanations when I get an answer wrong or I feel like the question just went completely over my head, even if I guessed correctly.

@kellymarie I bit the bullet and got myself an iPad to do my wrong answer journal with and I am absolutely loving it. It takes me far less time to complete and I am able to hide what I want so that when I review I can try again before seeing certain notes and the correct answer choice. I do like the template in the notes section on here though and I still use it.

@Kihla333 thank you for your experience. I was wondering if the trade off would be more beneficial. I know everyone is different but it still helps gets others perspectives. Good luck on your journey!

@Stas1973 my daughter has an art app that lets her add layers, so then something can be concealed just by removing the layer. Any chance it has something like that? lol Wishful thinking I suppose.

I just like to try the questions again with fresh eyes before I see the answer and see if I've grown my skills enough to get the question right. I am definitely making a paper wrong answer journal for now and writing out my explanations and highlighting/marking words or phrases that I might miss that make the difference in choosing the right ac vs the wrong ac.

I really appreciate your response. And good luck to you in your journey as well.

@J.Y.Ping thank you so much for that. I don't know how I never noticed that feature before. That is very helpful when I'm making my notes for the questions I've gotten wrong.

@Kihla333 I know statistics tend to show that writing things helps you to remember them better. Do you feel like doing it in excel is as beneficial as if you had just written it all out?

Are we using paper journals or is anyone using a note program on an app they like? I'm a pretty slow writer and writing them out is taking forever. I was debating on getting an iPad (which I would use for other things) and using a digital pencil to do a wrong answer journal. If I did that, I would, ideally, like to find a program where I could hide the correct answer, and my notes, until I want to see them (kind of like how you can press the button to show the notes during review here). Has anyone tried this?

It might be worth calling LSAC and see if they can give you more details if you did not get your score today.

LSAT Writing Sample, Input Needed

I am not a particularly eloquent writer so I know the writing portion of the LSAT may give me some trouble. I decided to complete a practice writing prompt to help give me some real practice and would like thoughts and opinions on how I did. The prompt was "What role should parents play in deciding what gets taught in public schools?"

The education system has always been an institution in our society that is rife with controversy. Finding a balance in a rigorous system is a delicate endeavor. One of the current balancing acts at the forefront of this system is what role parents should have in choosing what their children are taught inside the public school system. As a parent myself, I recognize the need to protect our children from values and beliefs we may not agree with, however, I also recognize the limitation that should be implemented. A parent's role is not to decide the content of the education system but to leave that to the experts in the field, while also monitoring and offering input in appropriate ways.

I would not want someone who is not knowledgeable in the field of education to be making choices that affect our children's education. When a doctor performs surgery, we do not walk into their operating room and demand they do things our way, instead we rely on their education and expertise in their field. I feel like this is transcribable to the role a parent plays in the education of their children. Teacher undergo years of training and learning to be able to teach our children. They also gain real world experience in dealing with children while inside the classroom. What qualifications do most parents have to be able to dictate what curriculum should be taught? Depending on generation and socioeconomic level, ones level of knowledge can vary greatly. This is why people who specialize in education are the decisionmakers for the overall curriculum of students.

Some parents state that schools may try to indoctrinate our children, but is it indoctrination just because you do not agree with it? I understand a parents need to protect their children from content they may deem inappropriate, whether due to age or just generality, but we are responsible to teach our children how to navigate these types of situations at home so that it can be applied in the real world. Also, what one parent deems inappropriate, another may not. Curriculum is a thought out process. And if a teacher was to overstep in an inappropriate way, there are ways a parent can intervein, such as filing a complaint with the school board. This assures there are checks and balances. Parents are also able to voice their opinions and concerns in school board meetings and even get some content on the ballet to be voted on for addition, or removal, to the curriculum.

If a parent is concerned the education their child is getting inside of a public school is inappropriate, they also have other options available to them, such as changing schools or home schooling their child. Some people have expressed concerns that a drop in enrollment of the public school system could cause irreversible damage to the system and will use this opinion to try and strongarm the system into letting parents have more input. But if a parent wants more input and control they can home school their children. Home schooling children gives the parent more control over the environment their child learns in and the way the content of the education is dispersed to their child.

Being a parent is hard, and sometimes letting go of control is even harder. We all want what is best for our children and for society in general. When it comes to the education system, parents have to learn to let go of the control, and allow those with the knowledge and expertise to construct our education curriculum. Parents have avenues to offer their input through appropriate channels. And if a parent still feels their child is not getting an appropriate education they have options available to them, such as home schooling.

@Jake. Man I'm sorry to hear that. I definitely think next time I'll be trying to make a way to take it at home. I learned I definitely need to be able to read out loud to help with my concentration.

Took the drill before the lesson and got 3/5 and still only 3/5 after BR. Decided not to look at the answers and went to the video and watched how Kevin approached the question and answers for the 1st question and then how he approached the prompt for the 2nd question and retook the drill again trying to use the same approach. Got a 5/5 and cut my time down significantly (from 15 minutes to 10) since I was originally mapping every question and most answers, up until I got to a part I felt didn't fit. This is usually a question stem I would skip since I know it takes me a lot of time. Thanks Kevin!!

#feedback The information under the question stem, when you press the lightbulb, States 'Passage A' both times instead of Passage A and then Passage B.

These are wonderful and really helping me to identify the areas that I need the most practice in. I must say though.....the 'Moses of the hot spring' line really made me laugh.

10/13 so not bad but disappointed in myself that it only went to 11/13 after blind review.

Note for others: I would do horrible on BR because I always assumed I got things wrong, when I didn't. If you put your cursor on the red info circle where it says the question was suggested for BR, it will tell you why it was suggest.

@Dpolanco I checked GA and anything there is too far. My realistic options are the new law program at Jacksonville University or UF. Possibly FSU but that would be a very long commute. But I couldn't attend any of those until year 2 since they all have the 20-hour work week restriction for year 1. It's lucky you all have the train option up there. They were talking about building one down here, but it got shot down which was a huge disappointment for many of us.

@calliekoskovich I still watched it to see what errors could be made so that I can try not to make them on future questions. But I usually only go over the answer choices that are popular and missed by a larger portion of people.
