@soupie I would say ask yourself Who? What? When? How? Where? . Think of yourself as an investigator or the attorney asking the defendant questions on a stand.

Example: During the fall season, the President of the United States, Conrad, shot his aggressive assistant because he was trying to defend himself

The Subject: Conrad Verb: Shot Object: His assistant.

You see how I flushed out the main point of this sentence? The rest of the words are modifiers (details). That's when the details come in... Why did he shoot his assistant? Because he was trying to defend himself. Why was he trying to defend himself? The assistant was Aggressive. Who is Conrad? The president of the U.S. .... when? During the fall season.
