@bcn I used POE on this and got the correct answer with 37 seconds to spare. What I do is treat the question as if it is NOT an except question, and each time an answer is correct, I cross it out. When I reached D, I knew it was correct because it clearly did not explain the discrepancy.
I'm having trouble understanding how E is wrong. If profits have been declining, would that not mean that publishers actually are not worried about making money? If books of intrinsic value make less profit, publishing more of these would lead to declining profits in the industry, which is the opposite of what the conclusion states.
Similarly, I ruled out B because I felt that it strengthened the argument. The conclusion states that publishers are more focused on profits than they are publishing book of "quality". Answer choice B says the same thing: there are less "quality" books being published and presumably more books focused on profts.
@InderpalSingh Even if you create an entirely new ctaegory for solving financial problems, B is wrong. SFP -> /H, H -> /SFP is serious financial problems in relation to happiness. This alone can be used to determine E to be the correct answer. However, if you create a new conditional for solving them, you will have H -> Solve SFP and /Solve SFP -> /H. In this case, B is still wrong because it confuses sufficiency and necessity. Being happy means you solved your problems, it does not mean solving your problems makes you happy.
